Gauge Installation Question...warning: lots of questions....... =T

when installing the tranny temp gauge, where does the temp prong go? in the autometer instructions it doesn't have a pic of where it leads to. it states to put it in the engine.. but where? can anyone shed any light on this?

i'm an electrical newbie... where is a good place to connect wires as a ground?
and also.. on one of my gauges.. it says to tap into a 12V wire.. through a fuse... do i have to buy the fuse connectors? so that it looks like this:
l
l
l gauge wire
------------<fuse>-----------O
l
l
l <-wire being tapped into
l

where the "O" is the gauge... is that right?

sorry for so many questions....probably more to come when my gauge pod arrives and i have to actually install them....

is there anything else that i need to buy for the autometer gauges that dont come in the box? i would like to have everything ready when it's time to install.

thanks in advance....

buy the temp manifold and mount it inline of your cooler hose.

my temp. prong is currently in the tranny pan (thanx, Jeff!)
yes, u need to buy a fuse and a fuse holder, just like the instructions say.
i tapped into the fuse box, in an empty slot. for ground i used a botl, that is behind the dead pedal carpet.

Well, while we're on the subject of gauges (and I'm not trying to hijack your thread, skandalous), I've got a question for those "in the know":

On the Autometer A/F gauge I've got, there's three wires (red, black, purple).

Well, obviously, I know where the red and black go. But where does the purple wire go to? I got it used, so there were no instructions and I don't know if I need to get anything else to install it or not.

O2 sensor wire. Either in the engine bay or by the ECU.

Thanks for the info, Tony. (oh, and if it wasn't for you and William, I wouldn't even be thinking of making my Max 'show-worthy' - so a double thanks...)
