need a new muffler... recomendations

the magnaflow universal muffler i bought recently sounds like doo-doo. with the combination of a ypipe, sometimes test pipe(some times a cat), a 18" resonator in the bpipe, ... it still sounds like it rattles from the inside and backfires. i was thinking of a flow master 60/70 series... but i have no idea if it would make a difference. i just want something with a mild deep tone, but doesn't rattle or backfire. its getting kinda embarasing, especially driving in my new neighborhood. can anyone recommend something that isn't crazy expensive that will rid my maxima of those nasty noises.

Why not get a catback that was designed with your specific engine to sound good instead of a generic universal muffler?

Either get the Apexi WS like I mentioned or just stay with the magnaflow, maybe you should just accept that you're loud and get the straight thru magnaflow too

Oh.. and get a real B Pipe!

it would be safe to assume that the backfiring has nothing to do with the muffler.

by backfiring... just the pressure of the exhaust when downshifting causes the backfiring noise... which was pretty much eliminated by putting the cat and resonator on... and the cat... i'm almost sure it is clogged somehow. checked it again tonigth... not good.
