led's

The led's that I've seen on delivery trucks and the Caddys and S-Classes 2-3 years ago seemed to make sense, and looked tight. But as they've proliferated onto other cars they are starting to look sometimes that they're just tacked-on. The FX45 was a case where at least from being behind it, it looked like sh**.

Got me wondering, could it be that some of the vehicles have lamps that are a single unit, kinda like our high mount stoplight in the spoiler, and others have the individual bulbs? I would think it's the latter that looks like cr**, but it may be a cost thing again. One led burns out on the unit, and the whole unit gets replaced. But it also has an integrated look. The led light bar on cops cars also looks funny imho and doesn't throw off light in all directions which I think is what you want in an emergency....
