I was going to get something to eat tonight, when I saw a 70's model v8 mustang leaving a cloud of white smoke at a redlight. I normally don't street race, but I thought oh well. I pulled next to him at the next light and beat him by 1/2 car to 50 then let up. We talked for a second and he wanted to go out to the highway where there were no cars so we could run. I followed him and then we lined up in the road and went at it. I jumped on him from the start and went up to 100 and let off, he flew by, and then slowed down and asked why I shut it down, or if I hit a rev limiter. I said I dont have a rev limiter, and he said lets see...So we hit it again and I kept in it for what seemed like forever, I never looked down at the speedo, I kept a car length on him foever, and he finally passed me, then we let off and pulled off the highway and talked. He said it is a sad day in america when a 4 door car can beat a muscle car all the way to 150, and I was like 150!?! He said I never could pass you till about 145. He said thats probably about your top speed. He said that if I had one more gear then he never could have passed me. he told me that he had high gears and his car would pull all day in the top end, but he was still shocked that I ran all over him for so long. and I was shocked too. I dont normally beat cars with big v8's.

Where are those Doubting Thomases?

I've been saying this since last September when I had the UPRD ECU beta tested on my car.... Simply stated: The car pulls like crazy.

But of course, there were those who were so eager to talk trash about it and *****, cry, and complain about something they knew nothing about, and why you might wonder????

Maybe because they're jealous... ;-P

--Nabil

P.S. My most recent roadkill was a lowered/modded 2000 E320 Benz from 20MPH to 80MPH... Spanked him hard!!! Even lit up my 235/45-17 tires on the 1-2 shift, and even chirped them shifting to 3rd gear.

Hmmm...when I had my 17s (235/45), I would spin them like crazy on the 1-2 and always chirped the 2-3. My 16s with the 215/55s bite hard and only chirp the 1-2 now and no more 2-3 chirp However, maybe my track times will improve because I'm not wasting time spinning.

I wish someone who's been to the track and has times would take thier UPRD Max and run it. It's a real shame that absolutely no one has done this yet and the ECU has been out since September.

As for a auto Max running 150mph against a 70s Mustang. Hmmmm...I have hard time believing any 70s Stang, regradless of mods would be able to hit 150mph. Why? Because they only came with 4 speed manuals and 2/3 speed autos. Overdrive was unheard of in the day. Also, if the Mustang had mods, then the guy was probably a drag racer therefore he had very deep gears in the rear (ie 3.7X-4.XX ratios) completely limiting the cars ability to go over 130mph. "if" this Stang really did go over 130mph, I wouldn't want to be near it because cars back then weren't designed for topspeed. Back then, a 125mph top speed was considered VERY fast. The very rare Camaro 396 was lucky to approach 140mph even with a very high 3.08 rear gear.

Last weekend I raced a very nice looking early 70s "Boss" fastback Mustang (very doubtful of it being a true Boss). The car sounded awesome and he was getting into it at every light. I made my way up and got behind him. He took off from the light rather quickly and I closely followed. He then went full tilt right when I was in mid 2nd. I punched it and hoped over to the next lane. I was able to come from approximately 2 cars back and started walking him by the time I got to 80mph. With Mustangs, you never know what you are gonna get. I've bet many and have been left in the dust.

well, it really happened

he told me he had a 3.08 rear end, which is made for top speed. I plan on going to the track when it opens, no one has been because it is the wrong time of year. I will let you know.
