unfortunate evening for me and the gxe, thoughts please...
i was driving myself and my gf to the mall when someone wasn't paying attention and rear ended my maxima. the damage looks like it's only cosmetic, but the rear bumper is pushed in showing at least 6 inches of my tailpipe. i haven't seen if anything structural has been damaged because it's dark. everything has been going well especially this holiday until this happens. as much as i love this car, my luck in it isn't very good. every corner of the maxima has been repaired at one point or another due to accidents caused by other people. each one getting more severe b/c this time it was hit while i was inside it. i'm lucky that nobody inside my car was injured. my neck is a little sore, but everything is ok for now. i will get the insurance involved tomorrow morning. i have my doubts with this car. every few months something bad happens. i still love it, as i believe it's still so much fun to drive and it's a "ringer" from the factory. i think i might have impressed a few on these boards the last couple years with some good 1/4mi times. the shock of it all makes me want to trade it in for something new (with even more potential). what do you guys think? i apologize for writing a long thread and for the fact that i don't check it as religiously as i once did. i still am a vqdriver at heart. there isn't a 4 door FF format out there that can match the 4th gen and it's overall design even to this date!!! thanks for opinions.
I don't think that your maxima is in anyway Jinxed or anything. You just have to become a more defensive driver...I know it sounds messed up...but SO do I. My first 4th gen saved my life, hence the reason I got another, that coupled with the fact that I can easily work on the car. I would defiantell get insurance involved and go get your neck checked out...my father had a neck injury that bothered him for 20 plus years...so please go see someone and get it documented.
Why do you want another FF sedan? Granted the Maxima is a great car, RWD gives you more potential for performance. Then again, your info on the side of the post doesnt mention where you're from, and if you are stuck with owning only one car, a RWD would be pretty rough in the snow. That said, the 98 A4 1.8T can be quick and handle great.
i'm from south jersey where it snows. my "fun" car is an S13. i've become quite a drift enthusiast since then. i'm beginning to learn how to drive an FR car. as far as being jinxed, i suppose i can become a better defensive driver, but this time i was merely in line with stopped traffic until the light went green. this girl hits me as if she didn't notice i was at a stop. there was nothing i can do! arh, it's upsetting. every other incident happened when the maxima was parked. in fact i can recall a few yrs ago i got my driver side door crushed in when i purposely parked in a spot as to not come in contact with anyone, but it still happened. what luck.
ah yes well...ive been over this, but in OT, with the s13 240 just like you. With a sr20det swap (pretty much a drop in) it can be quite a monster. from there you can get new turbos, intercooler, intake, etc. I dont think your car is jinxed either.
synk. i'll be up there when my buddy figures out how to make the boost control work with the powerFC. hopefully by then i'll have coilovers too. perhaps in about a month or so...i hope my max's frame isn't bent. today i noticed the trunk doesn't align with the right rear quarter panel like it used to. the gap has widened and the panel has a small crease in it.
feeling jinxed and cursed is more of a mind set. free yourself from it, or you can never move on. every time something bad happens, if you wonder "did that happen because i am cursed" you will go mental. sometimes it just comes down to life....thats how it goes sometimes
