Went racing tonight...
I had to try out my new Cattman Y-pipe tonight, so I went over to Test & Tune at the Memphis Motor Sports Park. The weather was *very* cool this evening, low 50's and falling.
Bad news: I couldn't hook up worth a darn. Even with my 205/50/15 BFG Drag Radials up front, I had passes where I didn't hook up until 3rd gear! I had my tires inflated to 20 PSI in front, but I just couldn't warm them up enough.
Good news: My engine ran great, and on my very first pass, I ran a new personal best e.t. of 14.861 @ 93.56 mph. And that was with my front tires groping for traction way past the 60' line.
I can't wait for warmer weather. I should be able to hit easy 14.50's with good hook ups and my current set up. Now all I need is my 70-shot NOS kit, and... 13.90's?
My best r/t tonight was .501! And my opponent in that race red-lighted with a .497. (Good thing, too, because the guy waxed my a$$ good, finishing about 2 martinis in front!) My best 60' time was 2.29, so I have something to work on for next time. Anyone have suggestions on how to hook up better?
I tried everything, and still couldn't hook up. Please help!
Thanks guys...

I believe you should fill your engine mounts with urethane or get one of those rubber spring blockers (stops coil springs from sagging) and put it into your engine mounts. This should reduce the flexing and give you less wheelhop and more traction. Maybe next time you'll do a longer burnout hehe

Good job on the 14.8. Your 60 foot isn't that bad for a fwd car (hell of a lot better than my 2.4). I haven't been to the track yet this year due to the weather. Over the winter I did extensive suspension work. I added new rear struts, adjustable front Koni's, lightweight 16s, new tires, and stiffened up my engine mounts. I put pieces of 1/4" rubber floor mating inbetween the gaps on the side engine mounts. I then took some rubber hose and stuffed it into the gaps in the front engine mount. I've got slightly more engine vibration at idle. With all these mods, my car hooks up really good now. I'm really hoping the same will aplly to the track. ANother thing that helped me was that I dynoed my car and added a shiftlight. I realized that I was shifting too late (6500 vs 6200).
Next time I go to the track, I'm gonna lower the fronts to 24 psi, add some VHT, pump the rears to 42psi, shift at 6200, launch at 3500 with clutch slip, and pray for the best (mid 14s).
I'd say direct you attention to your suspension.

I don't have the same car but its the same concept...
Here's what i did to get a 2.067 60' on stock tires. I havent even tried drag radials yet.
I go around the water box, do a quick burnout. Really quick with barely no smoke coming off them. What this does is get some of the tire compound left by the faster guys and track prep onto your tires. If you do a long smokey burnout it won't get on there as well. Now i make sure when i stage to barely break the second yellow light, this way i got a lil momentum when breaking the lights. I rev it to 4,000 to 5,000 rpms and feather the clutch for a second till i get full traction and drop it. Just powershift every time and walla!
I found doing the burnout the way i do it to be the best. If i feel my tires after doing it they are very sticky since the compounds still on there. Then i don't do another burnout all night and my times get faster and faster as i get used to the traction and how far i can go. Doing this got me a 14.779 in my barely modded car so im sure you guys with a lot more mods will be getting mid 14's no problemo.
Here's some vids of my older runs back in early december http://www.legacytuning.com/video/
