My car got PLOWED

One of our great county employees backed his plow into the front end of my Maxima. My brother borrowed my car and was driving it at the time. He said the guy stopped at the stop sign and put his car in reverse. My brother heard the reverse light beep and laid on the horn. The guy kept going and this is what happened.

Yea insurance is going to pay for it. My brother filed a police report, so now I have to make a claim. From the looks of it, I need a new bumper, hood, left quarter, and possibly right quarter panel. I haven't checked the headlights, but they might need to be replaced too. My brother has my car still, so I will do a more extensive check later.

The plow driver admitted it was his fault, so I shouldnt have a problem there. I guess I can look at it positively, I am going to have a paint chipless front end for a while.

Backing up would have been smarter then watching someone back up into your car. Go smack your brother for this.

its easy to react in retrospect, but when its happening, all you can seem to do is honk. besides, there may have been someone behind him. suddenly the maxima becomes sandwich meat between 2 slices of dumb@sses.

in regards to paint, the 5th gen paint is notoriously bad. seems like everyone has chipped front ends. IIRC, there was a website petitioning against nissan's paint. dont know how they would have done a recall on paint.

make them pay. at least your car is new and a new hood + good paint should match the rest of the body. the reason most people here work with their windows open. overcoats are made for a reason. but that defenitely is a day ruiner.

yeah, i guess he couldn't have backed up IF there was another car behind him. in any case, it's time to upgrade your horns to some better ones after you fixed your car. good luck man

Sucks Jason, good thing your brother was there to witness everything. Without your bro there the guy could have driven off and you would be up ****t creek.

Yea, it was cool that the guy fessed up and didn't lie. The guy could have told the cop my brother rear ended him and I am almost positive he would have gotten away with it.

It wasn't my brothers fault, so anytime he wants to borrow my car he can. There wasn't much he could do in time besides honk the horn. I am sure he would have not been able to get my car in reverse rear quick because his M3 has reverse on the left and thats instinctively where he would have went in a rush.

are you kidding? This is today in NH.

and I hope you got the driver to write he was at fault, before he talks to his boss who convinces him your brother didn't stop and slid into the back of the truck... good luck with this one.

Very true, after the whole front of my car was painted due to an accident, I have not had pint chips at all, the paint is holding up much better than the Nissan crap paint. I let my Service Advisor know about it too, the idiots wouldn't even have noticed that the car had been in an accident hadn't I told them.

He makes about $50k in CASH in about 3 months (in NH, anyway). And I'm sure my neighbor claims it all on his taxes

I'm definately in the wrong line of work.............

Sorry to hear about the accident. You are right though, your lucky that the plow driver was honest enough to say he backed up. He could've easily said your brother hit him from behind to save his own behind.
