Maxima.org/CustomMaxima.com Tokico Illumina Review
Alright ladies and gentlemen of the Maxima community, Maxima.org and our sponsor CustomMaxima.com have teamed up to allow yours truely to test out CE's New Tokico Illumina Suspension Kit. Who else could provide some in-depth pictures and instructions for those that were interested in buying these products in the near future then me.
J/k What I am using is the all new Tokico Springs that are featured on the CE website, http://custommaxima.com/TokicoKits.php
They are powder coated a nice shiny silver color, making them really nice match to my already silver/black scheme for the car. What else I really like about them is that they are stiff but not too stiff which most of us are looking for around here.
Well, time went by and pictures were taken, instructions were written and I came up with this. The all mighty writeup

Not much driving time has been done so my experiences are somewhat general for now. In the near future I will update the writeup with more information on how the ride feels and how each setting changes the characteristics of the car. The ride as far as I can tell for now is between Eibach and H&R smooth yet solid on the bumpy stuff.
I hope you enjoy the writeup, and I hope it helps you for when you decide to change your factory/current suspension out.

Nice work, your car looks alot better dropped. By the way, what series tire you running with those 16's? They look really big, doesnt look like the factory 215/55/16.
Nice write up. I just recently installed Illuminas and Eibachs on my car. What settings do you like the struts on? Do you like the rear more stiff than the front? I've only experimented with #1 and #2 all around. Very very impressive suspension. I'd like to hear some opinions on what settings people like best.
I am currently running on #3 in front and back, I am going down in settings and I must say #5 is just plain ridiculous around here. Its like a civic on coilovers at that setting.
Hmmm honestly how stiff is the ride? I made the mistake of putting 8kg/6kg springs on a ride once in Connecticut and killed my kidneys...is this ride soft enough in the city to be able to take your favorite lady along?
will the drop with this set up be similar, higher, or lower. than h&r and illuminas. these springs are a new product and how do they compare to the already established german made h&r. this is a toss up that i am dealing with in the decision process. btw are you 5 sp. or auto. looks great and the write up is very good too.
Hey very informative write-up Luke. Well written and the pictures speak a thousand words in and of themselves. Sorry, if I misunderstood, but are the strut mounts and strut bearing the parts as to which you reffered to replace on higher mileage vehicles? I just wanted to be clear on this. Thanks in advance. Lata!

Flyer, It is smooth enough to take that special lady out on the town, and not have her complain.
The only downside I could see so far, is that you have to be extremely careful of which roads you take as you might hit the pavement with your freshly painted front lip if you have one.
Bozo, The drop could be compared to the H&R setup, they are pretty much alike as far as that. The ride is stiff, but its tolerable, even my dad likes it so that tells you something. I am also an automatic trans. and it seems to just sit perfectly even front and back.
Jeremiah, the strut mounts and bearings are two items which on very high mileage cars would have to be changed out as they get subjected to water causing them to rust and wear faster.
