wwaaasssaaaabbbbbbbbbiiiii!!!
hey i need your help..
I'm stuck deciding between 3 cars...
the Maxima SE 5-spd, the 2002 5-sp IS300, or the 2002 Acura TL Type-S..
I really like the Maxima, esp with black on black..
but im leaning more towards the IS300..
please convince me in some way that the Maxima is a better buy..
thanks in advance

hmm .. this is a tuff 1 ... sorta ...
Hey ...
It doesn't sound like u need 2 much convincing that the Maxima is a better buy ... u seem 2 b aware of that already ... it prob is the best bang for your buck!
But ... you have the bucks? Then who cares about a dollar well spent .... but .. 4 me one the deciding factors was ... how comfortably can I haul people in the BACK SEAT!
The other thing was the expression on peoples faces when I take off in it .... "this is a Maxima? Wow ... I thought this was a family car!"
Luv THAT!!!
Still ... if u have $$$ 2 spare ... go in this order
1. Lexus
2. Acura
3. Nissan

thanks for ur honesty..
i heard that nissan's had some reliability issues..
anyone here have the new SE??
how do ya like it??
is the tranny smooth??
i know its got alot of power, 227hp, more than the IS300, but the IS is RWD, which for me is a big plus esp when cornering hard..

to be honest?
depends on what you want to use the car for.....
IS300 is probably an overall rounded for everything...but it is (edited hehehe) smaller in the back....
Again...go with the IS300 if you want it now and have the money....I dunno if they have the manual for it out already...auto...maybe get the maxima...hey...why not get the
new 300zx since you have the money for the IS300? or maybe the WRX?...
well..if you wanna go sport...take the 300zx...but if you want 4 pass comfort plus some power..get the max or the TL.
the Max would win for best bang for the buck
yeah the max has a transmission fix warrantied , ask for it, it is a factory fix, other than that, as reliable maybe better than the 4th gen
happy car shopping

1. It's a true sleeper because none of your friends will expect what it can do
2. It's a fun car to build into something cool
3. its got more room and is the cheapest of your three
4. the maxima is the most fun to drive because the acura is not a manual tranny and the IS has less power.
If you nod and say cool to the above reasons then get a maxima, if you think I'm wrong or don't care about those reasons then get one of the other cars on your list.
oh yeah: if money is no object then buy an audi s4 and chip + exhaust it to 400hp

2002 Maxima - only because it is larger than the IS300 and supposedly with the 260 hp 3.5L engine it should be a monster
2002 5spd IS300 - what can you say.. the car looks hot.. as long as the drive train doesn't rob it like the Automatic does (car rated at 210 - 220 hp and dyno's at 150 hp? where is all that hp going?) and rwd is so much more fun to drive..
I don't drive Automatics so the CL-S is not in my favor

IMHO
like everyone says... if you have the $$$ get the IS300, just because it's a very nice car... but it's also depend where you live.... because if you live anywhere near snowing states(MI, WI, IL etc...) RWD is not too much fun in the snow...
Maxima is the best bang for the buck, but the TL is nice also...
if you have the money and don't need the room.. get the IS
if you have the moeny and need the room.. get the TL
if you want the best bang for the buck.. get the max

i guess you should get Type-S. I got bunch of friends in area and one of them owns the tuning shop. so lots of ppl w/ different cars come over. all sales person and mechanics are all my friends. one of them has CL type-s, and one of them used to have 2000 eclipse gt, but he said he didn't like the car at all. so he sold it and got brand new yellow IS300. I drove both cars, and type-s is pretty tighter car than IS300 even if it is auto tranny, acually tiptronic or such a thing(clutchless manual). it's pretty fast since he got aftermarket intake, cat-back and header.i dunno if it has downpipe but he said he changed all pipe from exhaust manifold to end muffler. it looks pretty nice since it is dual exhaust. and sounds good...
next. i drove IS300 and it was kinda fast but i guess type-s is faster. he got intake, brand new HKS cat-back and other thing...he said stock muffler is still good looking and he love the quite but not usual stock kinda sound. but he changed.(i guess that's the basic mods for car...so he did it) shift feels good and ride was tight since it is rwd...
so frankly, just in my opinion, type-s is the best among three of them, but maxima is the fastest one among them. i would get type-s, but dunno it is up to you, and since i drove CL, not TL, it might be different..but i like type-s engine...
just in case, i think maxima w/ full option runs about $30k, TL type-s is $34k, and IS300 w/ full option is $35k. and there is more option...i found that there is an S4. that's what i wanna get, but i cannot b/c i can't sell my car. hehe, if you got around $35k, i would probably get used 2000 S4 w/ only 7000 miles on it. i found on web that 2000 S4 w/ 7000 and every option except navigation is $34999 in IL. 6-sp. if you wanna fast car, get S4 rather than all three cars. you can get flat 14sec. 1/4 mile w/ bone stock. if you wanna mods, spend about $7k, and your car gonna be flying w/ low 12sec. 1/4 mile...just my opinion
thnx for reading this fu**ing long writing...and good luck w/ your brand new car...

type-s: good car, great performance, great price, U-G-L-Y
max: what can I say that you don't already know. Bang for the buck, great performace (even better in 2002) - questionable styling
is300: if you have the money, get it. rwd. hot new styling. lexus quality/service. perfrmance performance performance. this car will no doubt have the biggest aftermarket of all 3 cars including kits (already out), turbo, anything else you can dream of. If you have the money... get it.
