Another crazy thought just popped into my head....Engine swap!!!
#1
I know that a 300Z motor won't fit into the 4th Gen Maxima, but would the 3.5 engine that is supposed to go in the new 2002 Maxima fit? I suppose that I would also have to swap over the wiring and the transmission as well. It would be interesting to find this out as my Maxima is about to turn the big 100,000 mile mark in the next couple of months. I know that this might not be practical but it may be fun to see if this swap would be possible. I don't plan on keeping up with the Maxima as it gets bigger and more bloated so an engine swap might be in order. Can you imagine going from the 190hp engine to a 260hp one and putting on my blower! WOOHOO!!! Mega-grins

He might get lucky....
I'm sure there are a couple wrecked 99-00 pathfinders. The VQ35DE might run around $2000-3500 for the long block/wire harness/ECU. I believe the VQ35DE has a bigger bore and simular stroke to get its displacement so custom mounts will need to be fabricated. Assuming a pathfinder bone stock loses the same as typical RWD vechiles it would put down at least 200-210fwhp bone stock. Given a Y pipe or headers, CAI, exhaust it should gain 12-20hp at the wheels. Then add a 8psi (at the manifold) supercharger tuned, it *should* gain around 60-75hp at the wheels. Not only do you get alot of power but an assload of torque. But the question is, who is going to spend the $6-9k to find out
hehe.
