'98 GLE fully loaded, paid $25k before taxes, missed the ****ing rebate(which was as high as 3k at one point I think). sold a year and half later for $18k.

Brand new in June of 1998 the sticker was over 30K. The dealer dropped it to 28XXX, I had a 91 Max for trade in. They only gave me 6K for my trade in. The offer was $2500 cash rebate which was applied toward the car. I ended up getting a loan for 19k.

those were the days my friend

we thought would never end

I got mine for $5800 off list and thought I did well (little did I know). There were GXE's with fixed mast antennas, no ABS, and 5-speed for $16,999 in the newspaper. Friend of mine got a 5-speed '98 SE with every option incl. wind deflect and mud-flaps for $22,900. Think his sticker was something like 29,500-600 or so. So I paid around $500 too much. So funny, there are really nice cars under 30K today and maxima hit 27+ probably with the 3rd gen. List is so bogus with Nissan.

Re: those were the days my friend

I found out afterwards that I could have gotten mine for less, this was my first car purchasing experience. At least now I know for next time.

I think I got the most bone stock SE.

I took off about 5-6k off MSRP and paid about 20 k after everything, I think.
For 99.9% of times, I would have just gotten a cheaper GXE. But for the 97-99 Maximas, at least for me, there was no question that I should get a SE because of the SE wheels. Those wheels are beautiful. And I love the spoiler and the white gauges. Those items alone are well worth the price difference between a GXE and SE, at least for the 97-99 model years.
If there was a 5 speed GXE right next to my car at the lot, I think I still would have gotten the automatic SE, and that's what I did.

Not quite a max but here goes,

I bought my 98 I30T 5-Speed on 12/16/00 with every possible option for $18500{except auto}. It had 39K miles on the odometer. The list price for it new was a little over $34000 dollars. I think I did all right since I got it for half price 3 years later.

I paid $22,500 for a brand new '98 SE (5 speed) with the C&C package, Bose stereo, and ABS. That was in March of 98. Sticker price was around $27,300.

Fixed mast attennas? There was NEVER a Maxima built from 95 on that didn't have a power attenna uncluding the GXE.

ummmmmmmmm....

I don't think that's true. In fact, I see a white GXE with a fixed antenna on my way to school every day .
