I like the bad resale value since I buy used, for now.

1. Stock Wheel Gap
2. Notchy Manual Tranny
3. No Standard ABS or Limited Slip

These are my only complaints otherwise it is a great car.

Anyone agree with FWD because I don't think I mentioned it enough. :P

S
sarin, i agree. good summary.
my biggest complaint with handling is not the rear suspension, as i have a 3rd gen with independent rear link, but the understeer of the FWD at higher speeds becomes exaggerated in the twisties.

yes, too. the rattling issue of the dash recently began in my 3rd gen. i'll bet you can remove the dash and reinstall it snugly. theory: rattles gone.

Oh this is going to be a fun one

1) Rattles ( I know its been said but needed to be said again)
2) Noise reduction....its fairly quiet on the inside but traveling the highway everyday to work, I feel otherwise.
3) Could the fuel filter be anymore of a pain to replace?
4) Sigh, standard wiper switch looks the same as my friends dodge colt. I mean really the price tag on my car was 26k can I at least get a freaking intermitent wiper switch please.
5) Lack of heated mirrors, now correct me if I am wrong here....but do any max's have that? I mean honestly my 1989 cressida at least had heated mirrors
6) Seats lack support in all areas.....
7) 5spd throw length.....its not cool knocking people in the rear seat with your elbow shifting.
8) Brake fade
9) I dont know about you but I like how my fog light bulbs blow.........at least I know we are keeping the fog light bulb companies in business. Oh did I mention its mainly only the right side. Now explain this one....my glass is broken in on the driver side fog..I have an actual hole in the thing right at the center.........it works like a charm..........while the nice perfectly tight water sealed passangetr side just blows.....
10) ........................need I continue

Performance:
1. FWD... Bad for handling, would love RWD
2. Rear Beam Suspension... Nissan cut costs and we got a inferior suspension design.
3. Better shifter.. Stock one is notchy and has truck like throws
4. Brakes.....Larger front rotors with more pistons would be nice.

Other:

-Resale Value sucks
-Poor Paint
-So So Quality

Agreed.

As for those who think it should be RWD: why in the hell would the Maxima be FWD when it's competitors are also FWD? If the Max was RWD, people would *****ing even more about cost-cutting, if the car was offered at the same price. PLease don't allude to the days of the RWD 1st gen...that was too long ago to even bother.

right. borg warner sucks. that is probably my biggest complaint of the maxima: you can boost it, mod it, but the tranny is so pathetic - the achilles heel of the car.

wow did not expect this thread to get so big when i started it like 2 days ago lol...but yea the rear suspenstion is ****, would love for an independent kit to come out that would be awsome, the brakes are horrible and for a luxury sedan hubcaps should not have been an option, even on the base model, seriously if nissan took 1 enthusiast into a room to redesign the max we would all sell our cars to buy it

yeah. this is a good venting place.
the maxima is a flawed car. but it makes up for it's shortcomings in many ways. it cannot be "everything" to everyone.

i hate how the foglights burn up so soon, too. someone said that earlier. and it is always the passenger side to go. don't understand that.

i find myself always wanting more than the car can actually attain to, no matter how many mods i do to it. it is like, i love the car, but cannot quite fully bring it to some magical point of total satisfaction. maybe i am in love with an ideal fantasy and in denial of reality.

Personally, I think the flaws are things that can't be changed like the position of that damn alternator. I'm a pro at swapping this thing out now but I wish it was higher on the VQ for easier replacement.

Biggest Complaint: I'm happy with my VE, I wish I had HID's and larger wheels, but that would be way before it's time. People complain about the VTC's, but I'm just glad we have them. I guess just the headlights could use some help.

Air Bag(s), remote locking and cruise control were not standard on all models here. My car misses out on all On the upside, all came standard with ABS here

Another complaint I have is that there are two different Maxima designs. The US and Canadian version, and the rest of the world. Why not make it the same in all countries? Most other car companies do.

I think its to make more sales, they split up the "Maxima" you guys have into the Infiniti Division (I30), and made a seperate Maxima for the Nissan Division.

I don't know why people keep saying the beam axle is the biggest flaw but I think the car handles great with the beam especially when lowered. It reduces the need for a stabilizer bar also.
As far as I'll got to say that the beam was a flaw is by saying that it was a flawed idea for Nissan to go from an independant suspension to the beam axle.

You guys complaint way to much. If the Max had everything you wanted. It would be so much more $$$. It probably wouldn't be sold in the US. Oh wait they do have that car. Its call "Skyline GTR"
