The maxima wasnt made to be a hardcore performance car, so I dont think a RWD maxima would even be in the picture. As far as Im concerned, the biggest flaw would be to put a 6 speed in the newer ones while still being FWD

I do not find 190hp/205lbft "powerful". Especially to powerful for FWD. Once you start rediculously modding, by say...forced induction or nitrous ( ) then the FWD starts to hinder the car.

One BIG fault is the lack of ABS standard. Thats just bad judgement on nissans top-of-the line sedan

Read his statement again..he never said they were all auto..he meant the fact that nissan made auto's for the maxima

oh and btw the max's biggest flaw is that nissan didn't make a 2 door version...just think of the possibilities

obviously every car has its flaws. you can go on and on about certain little things that dont meet with your satisfaction, but overall for the maxima its an all around great car. but thats just me.

1st gens: lack of trim varieties
2nd gens: lack of freakin cup holders, FWD
3rd gens: FWD
4th gens: FWD, rear beam suspension
5th gens: FWD, rear beam suspension
6th gens: Front grill, FWD

And for 2nd -6th gens FWD.

Anyone agree with FWD because I don't think I mentioned it enough. :P

obsolete, unsufficient suspension.

fwd, auto, 2 door version.. all those are irrelevant. a car is not flawed because it has auto transmission, or has 4 doors, or is front wheel drive.

- stock wheel gap (i can stick my foot into the wheel gap no problem, i wear size 13)
- handling sux
- knock sensor is horrible. if it's not working then light up the freaking CEL. without the org, i bet a lot of people think their car is working cuz no CEL is on the dash, but the ghost 0304 is actually kicking in and running safe ignition map, robbing powers and gas mileage. seriously wtf maxima knock sensor sux.

Don't knock the auto trans or the FWD. You just have to work with what you have. My Son has an 5 spd AWD DSM that runs 12.5 and he still hasn't beat my 1.7 60' or my 12.1 time, and believe me he is working hard to do it.

The biggest flaw by Nissan was putting such a great engine in a family sedan and expecting people not to flaunt it against domestic V8's.

Can't easily adjust the timing. Well, you can, but you have to send the ecu to JWT along with $600.

HORRIBLE brakes (rotors == too small! VERY VERY BAD MOVE NISSAN!!!)

HORRIBLE struts (can't wait to replace my 2000's stock struts with Illuminas... at 55K miles they're very worn)
Otherwise, I have no complaints

I curious to how resale is a flaw Nissan is responsible for. Resale is dictated by the market. The 4th gen Maxima is the most reliable car in it's market (better than the Camry or Accord), but Americans are so brainwashed into believing Honda/Toyota is a better car that they end up buying them. Resale for any car is horrible because of used car saturation. It doesn't matter if you own a BMW or Nissan, after 3 years of ownership the car will be worth 50-55% it's original price. That's the hard truth.

The Maxima's biggest flaw in my opinion is probably lack of adjustments for taller drivers to get comfortable. I 6' 2" and find the bottom seat cushion a little to short for my legs and the steering wheel a bit too far forward when I have the seat in a comfortable position. A telescoping steering wheel would have done wonders. The beam axle is also a flaw even though it does perform quite well on all, but bumpy surfaces.

The biggest flaw is that damn rubber piece that covers this switch. Check your car and see if you still have it
