Well, guys I think I've finally decided on a new car to replace the totalled max. Iniitally I wanted a used 300Zx twin turbo, but it's too much trouble finding a good one. Then I was interested in the new WRX. But I've finally decided on a 01 Celica GT-S. My dealer offered me a fully loaded one for 500 over invoice. So that'll be 22,361 + 500. After tax, doc, title, license, it'll come out to 24,200. I'm going to bargain for a 00 fully loaded GT-s monday and if I don't get a much better price I'll prob go for the 01. Do you guys think this a good price?
you guys are always knowledgeable and cool!

thx

Does Not Matter

Its does not matter what you pay you'll still be looking at the taillights of a maxima.

Isn't that $24,000 in the same neighborhood as the WRX? You'll get a great car thats fast, powerful, has 4WD and is pretty much guaranteed to become a collectors car in a few years. If you feel as though the Celica is a better choice through all of that, then more power to you. (Actually more power to the WRX, 226 vs. 180)

Losing 2 doors

You are losing two very crusial doors with your new car! I'd get a new Max or if you want to go a few thou more- an Acura 3.2 TL so you can keep all 4 doors.

got it

I just got the 2000 White GT-S 6 speed.
Ohh no, the 24K was the out the door price. the 24k for a WRX is before the options, tax, license. Anyhow, I paid 22K. instead. out the door price.
Anyhow, I can pick it up in a few days. I'm so excited! yah!
My max was an auto so the 6speed is a joy!!

ARe you telling me you wouldn't trade in your max for something like a viper or Ferrai or something along those lines? Hell I'd trade for a newer Toyota supra in good contion, those things rock.

I have a 2000 Celica GT-S and it's not bad. Substantially slower than the maxima. My "cely" has an Injun intake and greddy exhaust. I kinda wish I bought a 4x4, so i think i am actually going to sell it soon. My advice, go with a bigger car or a truck.

Those two cars are totally differant!(More power and money)
Celica is like a smaller messed up version of a mustang!(Less Power)

Re: got it

I was reading a long term review of the GT-S on Edmunds.com. There were a lot of complaints about the shifter. How do you like it? I'm interested in the 2002 Toyota Matrix, which uses the same drivetrain.

shifter

Well, I've only driven an old Geo 5 speed and a Civic EX 5 speed. I think the Celica one is great. maybe they complain cuz it's a 6 speed? anyhow, it seemed smooth and nice to me. I'm not a expert stick driver, this is my first manual car. I'm goign to drive all over the place tommorrow!

Celica???

Isn't that what girls ride in. Look, my bad on the negativity, but that car only looks good when you see a fine-a$$ broad driving it.

Re: shifter

The complaint was that it was easy to miss a shift.

Re: Re: shifter

Sorry to bag on the negativity tip, but once you've driven a 6 cyl sports sedan it hard to go back to a 4 cyl sports car.

Funny, I usually see 40-year moms driving Maximas.
