steering problem

After my dad replace the rack and pinion of his Avalon (i know it's not a Max but shouldn't matter rite?) the steering wheel is not straight anymore. The alignment is good (drive straight) but whenever we turn left, the steering wheel can't straighten itself back but turn a little to the left, and the same thing for the right, the steering wheel would stay on the right after turning right. Did try to get an alignment but still haven't solve the problem.

Have any idea? hope you guys understand me

It is fairly common for steering wheels to get off center. It is easy to fix, I think they just adjust a steering linkage part. But, I think usually the wheel stays off center the same way. Does your wheel keep changing it's off centerness in the direction of the last turn?

Find an alignment shop that does a 4 wheel thrust angle alignment. That will center your steering wheel. If you changed your rack you definately need to reset the cars alignment. Just because it drives straight means nothing.

Also stop asking PepBoys technical questions.

I had the very same problem on my car. I actually didn't replace my rack and pinion, but the bushings were asking for help
Maybe you guys need to look over at the rack bushings again. Mine was moving when ever I turn my steering wheel. Here is my story
