4th gen MAF vs. 5th gen

Hi guys,

I am just wondering if the 5th gen maf sensors seem to be more likely to fail due to an oiled filter. I had a 97 with a WAI and K&N and ill admit i did seem to over oil it once or twice but i never had any kind of problem. I now own a 2001 and i am looking towards a CAI. whats your opinion......

2k/2k1 maf's usually shouldnt be affected. its the 2k2 and 2k3 ones that blow easily for some reason.

Not necessarily. My 2k MAF blew out over a year ago.

certain part numbers for 2k2 maf had a very high rate of failure even without using stock nissan filters. i am sure there are quite a few 2k-2k1-2k3 maf failures but nothing on the scale of early production 2k2. ive had an intake with a k&n filter for about 2 years with no failures. if it does go bad then a replacement can be had for a very reasonable amount. contact dave burnette for a replacement of just the sensor instead of the whole tube that your local nissan would try to sell you.

Does anyone know if the 6th generation VQs use a different MAF sensor than the 4th gens?
