Question for people with SLAMMED MAximas

How do you get your maximas so slammed and not have it scrapping agaist the fendors?

I have ground control coilovers put the the very bottom and tokico shocks...Ive been riding on the factory hubcaps or watever but yesterday i put on the 17" stock 350z rims...I did not mess with the coilovers as the gap looked about the same...maybe a tad bit smaller....but neways the whole car ride home it scrapped if i hit any bump at all...and i fould rubber melted off on my fendors...and tires are lil scrapped up...

do i simply need to raise my car and how much do u guyz suggest i raise it to stop the rubbing of my tires????

Thanks appriciate any help...

your rubbing is because of the offset on the 350z rims

you'll have to raise up where u aren't tucking them

ohh yea your right...the offset is wider in the back...hmmm...but the thing is when my cars sitting its not tucking at all...gaps about one finger...

by the way do u suggest i raise it back up a lot? half way? or do i not need to go that much more up?

What type of tockicos do you have? the piece of **** blues? get some better shocks to go with that GC set up. I know I am slammed and I dont scrape. I only scrape on speed bumps or going off steep exits at an angle.

i dont even know what kinda tokicos i got...i think they are blue...are they that crappy?...i just got whatever...dont really mess with my car anymore...

but how low is your car for it not to scrap on regular bumps?...so u think my problem is the crappy shocks...or are my coilovers simply to low cuz they are at the very bottom?

I have GC's and the blues...theyre ok, I cant really spend on shocks right now... I had it at the lowest setting the first month I had them on and the ride was brutal.. it wasnt until I decided to raise the back cause it looked like it was sagging.. the ride was a lot better.. mainly scrape on steep inclines and speed bumps if not going at an angle..

Hmmm, i wouldnt consider my car "slammed", but it does sit pretty low. Even with my splash gaurds i dont bottom out during regular city driving. Only thing that scrapes are my dual tips if i go up a steep grade driveway...

Id say you really need to raise your car up a tad, get proper fitting rims and your set to go. There is a limit of how low you can go. Remember people, your suspension needs SOME travel...

Phil raise the rear to a 2 finger gap. That should end the rubbing.

Nah man....I was a proof of that. How to drop your car to the point that Y-pipe sat an inch off the ground Yeah, that sucked riding around all the way down, but I had correct offset wheels/tires combo, and it never rubbed, even all the way down

Haha, come to my neck of the woods (tampa) and watch your struts blow throw your car. We have very unfriendly roads at times...

Damn, even on a smooth road, that ride must have been hell...

Well, ive been in NYC and i must say its pretty damn close. Downtown tampa's roads havent been worked on since the 80s it seems. Even in my car i have to drive no faster than about 25mph in downtown or i will bottom the hell out. The roads are just so bad and bumpy. Granted alot of tampa has great roads though...

I can only imagine if i was running on 18s, the ride would be 5X as worse.

i am pretty low myself. I think about 6" or so ground clearance up front. I scrape a lot on steep hills and speed bumps. MY greddy exhaust scrapes A LOT!! ALSO If i have 5 people in the car, I cant go over any speed bump...That is very seldom though. Underneath my stillen front...it is scrapped up badly. OH well...the gc's have me at about 1.5 fingers up front and less then 1 in the rear. I wouldnt mind going lower...i love it!!

Thanks for all the help people...just a little update...i raised my coilovers about an inch and a half...gaps about 2 fingers all the way around. Its a huge difference from before, but i think i like it cuz i dont gotta worry about scrapin as much...and the tires are not rubbing the fendors anymore...so happy about that....

imma try and get some before and after pics soon...funny how hubcaps to rims(even though mine are only the 350z stocks) make such a huge difference...

thanks all later....
