Air Conditioning Problem

Well since the hot weather has begin here in california, I tried using my AC for the first time in 3 months. Right now the digital AC works but it seems my condenser is not coming on. Usually when the condenser is on, my rpm rises slightly at idle. It doesn't do that now. In that three month span, I had to replace the belt tensioner but I am pretty sure that was done correctly but who knows. I have had trouble with fuses blowing out for my headlights so I have checked the fuses and they seem good. Can it be a relay because before, I hear a click then the AC coming on. Now, there is no click at all. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Iilac

It's possible that you are too low on freon and your compressor is not cycling on. Just make sure that you have power at the compressor when you turn on the A/C. If you have power to the compressor and it does not engage the clutch, you need to have the system serviced.

How do I check to see if I have power to the compressor?

I think its the relay, jump it.

if your low on r134 I think it would just short cycle rather than not turn on at all

If the r-134a is dangerously low the compressor will not engage. Ideally you want to check the high and low side pressures and see that they fall within specs.
You should run the compressor for 5 minutes at least once a month in order to keep it lubricated so that it doesnt seize up after a prolonged period of inactivity.

Turn the ac on and look into the sight glass on the receiver-drier to see how it looks..

Damn, I did hear some gas escaping which was 4 months back. During this time frame, I turn on the defroster which kicks in the ac so it seem it was working fine. I think it could be low r134a but what could have cause that freon leak?
