Hood Scoop ????'s
Hood Scoop ????'s
Just my luck my max got hit by some hail this winter and ruined my hood/roof. Well I was too cheap to get it fixed since I am a broke college student and pocketed the $1200 the insurance co. paid up. I ended up getting myself a couple mods and saved the rest for beer money.
I want to mod my hood for a scoop right on top of the filter just for ****s and giggles and to see if the extra air flow will make a diffrence
in top end preformance; Since I'm eventually going to replace the hood w/ a CF or stock, if it doesn't end up looking good or preform at all I'll just get a new hood any way.
My question is:
A) How should I cut the hole to prevent any premature rusting or paint chipping if it does turn out ok and
B) How do you keep water from coming in so my filter wont get soaked?

Cutting up your factory hood is going to cause issues. The underhood skeleton is where you're going to run into problems. I've seen some cars where the just took a saw through the hood and it doesn't look half bad on the top, but the underside looks terrible. I've got a FI CF hood that is being modded for vents, but that was easy because it never had a skeleton so it's just the carbon.

What do you CAI guys do to keep snow slush/water from getting to the filter?
See homepage please.
1. You would leave the hood framing in tract and just cut the sheet metal around where u would want, then use a rustoleum.
The Far MOST MAJOR problem ive had with my scoop is this.
Hood-Metal, Scoop-Fiberglass. Shuthood abou 100 times. Cracks cracks, more small cracks. Ive use a Kathair sealear and On my last and 3rd attempt to get it right i use what has proved to be the best... Liquid Nails.. Of course youll need a file sander and bondo to smooth it out like that though.
Good luck,

I dont mean to ***** up the thread, but can u paint a CF hood to your stock color? I have pebble beige color and I wouldnt mind losing that heavy hood. Plus I dispise it, it almost took my head off! (Shocks went out
