Instead of being mad at the cop, you should just consider yourself lucky for the following reasons:
1. Your son is okay
2. Your okay
3. The police officer didnt arrest you for not only a warrant but blatantly reckless driving.
So yea, other than the old man being mad at you, you had someone who likes you upstairs today.

he did enough. he could have jailed you for the warrant and you would have never made it to the hospital.
and i would never leave my children with people who have abuse problems of whatever sorts. even if they were my own parents you know. i don't want my kids to hang around people with issues and wonder whats wrong with them.
that said i would have probably done the same. once the adrenaline kicks in, all reasoning is gone.

In the end, he didn't end up getting there any quicker. Glad to see everything turned out ok though.

Wow man, glad that everyone is alright. This reminds me of the time my dad passed out at work. I get a call from his work and I though he had a heart attack. I wasn't driving my max, but I was driving my family volvo, was doing close to 125-130 from my house in Lynnwood to Bellevue, which is about 20 miles. I never been to the hospital, but half way along they way, I was able to pull over a state trooper and he helped me find my way. Luckily I didn't kill anyone, or get in an accident. Either way, you definately have to keep your cool about it. Luckily for both of us, our loved ones was in the hands of professionals. It turned out my dad had a nasty diabetic attack, along with a heart palpitation. Pretty scary stuff. Either way best of luck throught the coming times with your family. I hope everything works out, and my sincere wishes.

sorry, but if i had a kid and he was in the er, and i was in my car or close to it at that time, i don't think there is anything in this world that would stop me from getting in and driving like a bat from hell to get to his side, seeing as it could possibly (God forbid) be the last time i'd see him. when it comes to family and emergencies, i don't think i could ever think straight or rationally....my baby brother once got run over by my dad's chauffeur because the maid didnt hold him as she had always been told to. We did a lot worse to get him to the hospital and all he has are stitches and scars to show for it thanks to the same chauffeur. personally, i don't think there is any rationality when it comes to family being hurt/in danger...Rob, i think you did what I, as well as many others (especially fathers) would have done. Thank God he is okay and that you are as well.
btw Rob, those houston freeways are the most dangerous i've ever been on....especially the 59 / 45 / I10 connections....scary..

WOW, that's some story. Sorry to hear about it. I can understand what you're talking about when it comes to childrens of your own. Especially something bad could happen. However, driving recklessly that's even frightening, that you could have killed yourself or other people in traffic. The best way is that your wife or your in-law could taken them to the emergency room so that way you can remain calm and be on the way. Your father in law, what an a$$hole. I would have given him a mindful about it.

Rob good to see that you and your son are ok. As for you father-in-law that's not a way for a family to act. But by this time (i can understand), he's nothing to you. Sorry about that. I just hate irresponsible people that can't take responsiblities for their actions.
One more thing: I know that it might make things worst but are you going to take any action on your brother-in-law for those pills?

I understand your son, probably your pride and joy, was in trouble. However there is no need to do 120, what happened if u slammed into a VAn and killed a mother and 3 of her kids? Plz think about other people before acting so irrationally. If you would like to look from the Realistic point, their is nothing you can do physically at the hospital, 80 yes but 120 no. I am glad everyone is ok.
