This is why you shouldn't go to a machine car wash!

yesterday on the way to the south jersey/philly meet, i decided to wash my car at one of those car wash places....i normally do it myself or go to one of them self service ones but i didn't have time so was like what the hell....went there and was alot of people in line....i waited my turn and told the attendent to wash the exterior and tha's it...got out of car and head inside to pay....i just finish paying and next thing i know the attendent came inside to tell the manager that my car has a flat in the driver front one...we both went out to see what happen and what you know my tire is flat on the track....and it wasn't even inside the wash yet....since my car was on the track and tons of people behind me they put my car thru...and it came out the other side and they push it to the side....i went inside again to talk to the manager saying you guys mess up my tire....he said they were sorry for what happen and would take care of it...so he got me on the phone with the owner (which i kinda of know) and told him what happen....then he tells me that he will replace it with a new one....so in the mean time i had to use my spare but i didn't want to use the standard one but a full size one which i had at home....so i had to drive home and came back with the spare and they help me put it on.....as we took my wheel off i saw a quarter size hole inside my wheel wall....i took down the manager and owner names and numbers and told them to write down something saying that they will pay for it.....the owner will give me a call today to tell me when he can get the new tire for me.....

Moral of the story is that it cost me inconvenience and chance to go to a local meet as i just went home after that....i'll keep u guys posted as to the out come...

That is why you go through "drive in, brushless" car washes..

Wow, I never heard of a thing happened. Is your tire size an aftermarket, since the track in the wash is probably too narrow or problaby a foregin object punctured your tire.

i'll never go to a car wash that pulls your car through ever again. i went to splash in my town...it never grabbed my wheels. while i was in neutral i was still rolling, and didn't notice anything till i started going faster, was wondering...wth?? and i see that i'm coming up on a car in front of me and jam on the brakes. it was really weird because the guy goes to me, you're suppose to have it in neutral not drive. i go to the guy, "take a look at my shifter, do you see it in drive?" --well....just put it in drive and back in neutral--and somehow i was back on the track, one of those things that spin to wash the side of your car, hit my side view mirror, thank god those things fold in, but i do have some marks on there now and didn't notice it till a few days later ;/ they did run my car through it again since it didn't get washed too well heh, but i'll never go there again.

At least a drive through wash didn't do this to you and then tell you you're lying to your face and that it was "preexisting damage" and then refuse to take any responsibility:

Mr. Clean can get pricey from all the refills. I'll stick with the old fashion washing and drying methods

no carwash will ever touch a car i own... even if it had no paint left on it.

couple weeks ago a friend got his wheel bolt cover lost after a wash. apparently the brushes kicked it off and it was lost.

iansw: wtf! that looks like something you get from reversing over a tree stub. i would have filed suit against that place

wow iansw. I have the same dent in my driver's side fender. Have you gotten that thing fixed yet? it's been almost a year since my accident with the raccoon but never got the time to fix it.

Btw 98coupev6, did you get 2 tires? How much tread did you have left on the other tire? If the tread life is off by a lot the car, you should replace the both tires, not just one. Otherwise the car will pull unevenly.

I DID take them to small claims court.

I lost because I couldn't prove the damage wasn't pre-existing, even though I had dated pictures from 2 days before it happened of my car.

And there wasn't even one of those "we are not responsible for any damage" signs anywhere near the car wash.

My lawyer and I were both ****ed.

Good to hear a good ending to the story, it's nice that the owner took responsibility.
