I had the rear struts replaced under warranty on my wives 98 GLE and the clowns put the old torn dust boots back on . The dust boots are also open at the bottom, I assume they are supposed to attach to the shock somehow but can anyone tell me for sure?

Also, is replacing torn dust boots considered part of shock replacement? I don't think the new ones will last very long with the torn dust boots.

I don't think they attached to anything. Try to use some zip ties.

The are not held down at the bottom, they hang from the top. Same for the fronts also.

Thanks, these are completely open at the bottom, they do not even come close to the shock. If that's how they are supposed to be I don't see how they do anything to protect the shock from dirt and dust.

I'm glad I went with the KYB dustboots, they are narrower at the bottom and attach to the shoc with a wire tie.
