What happened with all the header prototyping?

I remember a while back that we tried to get Hotshot and AEBS to fab up a set of headers. I couldn't find an update to the hotshot deal, but I read (via the search for the newbie's 
) that AEBS wouldn't be able to make the header design they wanted, because of clearance issues. Is it just me or is there never going to be a set of headers available for the max? Judging by the price of other import header's, it looks like we would be lucky to get them for less than $1k
