I hope I'm just being peranoid, but I just got the ECU and drove it for a about a mile or two and I can't rev past 3g's. Has anyone else had this problem. Does Robert work today? I called and got VM. Man this sucks, I'm scared to drive it cuz I don't know what damage it could be causing if any. It Idles wierd for a sec or two and seem like it will shut off but then bounce back too 500 rpm.

Some please tell me they had this prob. and it went away.

have you tried disconnecting the battery terminals for a few hours?

I thought I saw someone reporting the same -->

before. Something to the effect of having an old programm running instead of the new one and then later something about the timing to be adjusted mechanically (which is not true for the maxima)
Do a search for ECU timing or related in the forum.
Disconnecting the power from the battery is not going to do anything, if you think of it, you already have had the power off for while (until you installed the ECU). I would suggest to perform an ECU reset (search the forums for ECU reset, or if you want sear my posts, I have posted this before).
See if this helps (I am hopping that is the case). Please keep us posted, I am waiting on the second GP and since I am *very* lucky that will happen to me too.

The screw on the side may be in the full clockwise position. I started my car when this happened and it ran like shiit, as soon as I turned it back the car ran much like normal. Make sure it's turned fully counterclockwise (but don't force it!). Car should run fine...

if the car is really jerky from a standstill (automatic tranny), won't shift past 3K, the engine fans are always on, and the check engine light comes on then your car may be in limp home mode. happened to me also. they just replaced a chip and it was fine. check for the fans and check engine light. hope this helps a little.

Not reassuring, after following 95GreenSE's encounter. I am wondering about the 30 day money back guarantee.

just to let you guys know, robert has just contacted me about tuning my car with a CONSULT. not sure what it's gonna do but it does show that these guys take care of thier customers. even though i'm not sold on the product quite yet i'm sure that most vendors wouldn't be willing to go that extra step to make sure your happy. just my two cents.

OK I'm Back Sorry

Yup I think I'm in "limp home mode" at least I hope. Robert called me that Sat. and told me GreenSE had the same problem.

I didn't think unplugging the cables would work for the same reason that was stated earlier. It had no power for a week. I also tried resetting by turning the screw both ways and that didn't help either.

I must admit they do have good customer service up to now. Alough my car isn't running yet I don't feel uneasy about the upgrade, YET. I just hope it works when I get the new chip. I'll keep everyone posted.

So far Robert ( from G-Force) has been really good about getting back to me, so I have to give him props for that.

Uncle Max-
Goodluck and I hope everything works out. Could you pull one of your plugs (read below):

Has G-Force figured out why the ECU mysteriously goes into limp home with the ECU? It sounds like the ECU works for a little while and then decides to go into "limp". I see a bit of a safety issue with this problem. What if you were trying to pass a truck when all of a sudden your motor doesn't want to rev past 3000 rpms? Who would be responsible?

Could the advanced timing possibly be messing with the ECU and telling the ECU that their is a emissions problem?

What about the advanced timing being too advanced for conditions and fuel type? Say your motor is too hot and you're only running 91-92 octane. Then your motor starts detonating due to the heat and too low of a octane fuel.

Oooooh Didn't know that

You mean you've experienced Limp Mode after it ran correctly and then stopped working?
That soesn't sound good has anyone else got this issue?

How long have you had the ECU?

Well, Thats sounds good I hope we don't see long term issue come up. I wonder how Nabils ECU has been running?
I still can't wait to get my chip thought. Hell if any thing I'll go by another ECU from the junkyard. I just hope this new chip works good cuz 400 bones is still 400 bones.
Still being positive about the chip I really hope I can stay this way. I think it work out OK. This is the first time its been done I'm sure theres gotta be bugs once in a while.

Uncle Max:
I've had the ECU now for about two weeks and it works fine. No problems. I hope things work out w/ your ECU.
