HIDS are being stolen everywhere??

My HIDS were stolen once, my buddys have been stolen twice and they tried to steal my father in-laws yesterday but didn't suceed but the car had lots of damage , Does anyone know if anything is going to be done by nissan about this problem. This is a big defect these cars have because they make it so easy to steal these headlights. Has anyone in this forum had their headlight stolen????

Nissan has actually been sued by Maxima owners because of this problem. Go to your dealership and see if they can do anything for you.

yes a number of people on this forum have had theirs stolen. lurk around the 5th gen forums and you will read the horror stories. dealerships in the tri-state area (I think its just around that area) will install brackets and data-dots to deter the thieves.

seems like the problem shifted to the south. After experiencing and epidemic of HID theft here in the NYC area, it 'seems' like that problem subsided around here.

This is one of the reasons why the 6th gens are optional w/HIDS. You can get it with halogens

The 5th gens were pretty easy to steal. There are always a lot on ebay that mysteriously have damage indicative of a theft...sellers always have some excuse to explain away the damage. With anti-theft kits, they are much more difficult to steal but unfortunately, cars are getting maimed in the attempt.

Yes. Those are the Data Dots w/brackets. I've had them done on my car but, one of the guys on the Org has ONE of his HIDs stolen WITH the bracket in place. But, I think the time it took to remove the one HID, made going for the other one prohibitive.

Moral of the story: if they want the HIDs they'll take them.

Seeing as I drove to work today, it would be my luck that I walk out of work to find my HIDs missing. It's already happened to someone else's 5.5G on my "secured" lot.

Peace.
