My AC Stanks!

Smells like garbage. Any ideas on why, no jokes please, I've heard it's possible to hook up air freshners right in front of the fan so that it blows goodness out your vents? Has anybody done that?

Also you want to make sure that your evaporator is draining when your AC is running. There should be some water draining from behind and to the left of the right front tire. If no water comes out after operating the AC for a period of time, the drain tube is plugged and needs to be cleaned out. It can be done with a small wire or very low pressure compressed air.

I gotta do that, but I'm too lazy. Mine was pretty bad last year, but for some reason this year it doesn't seem too bad.

oh well.

I can't see the drain tube on my car from above. On my 95 KingCab, it's almost in the center of the firewall. It protrudes about 1½ " and bends 90º downward. You probably have to either jack your car up or put it on a lift if you cannot see the tube from the engine compartment. If you have any kind of water draining at all, you can somewhat tell the general area that it drains from by looking at the ground where it drained.

so there is a boss/fitting/port of some kind that is always open that drains the water/condensation? or is the condensation from the outside of the tubes itself?

It is normally a black rubber tube that is attached to the evaporator drain pan and protrudes through the firewall. Water that forms on the evap core drops into the pan to be drained out to the ground below.
