Ok Jeff. I don't know why you don't think we should talk about the show when we can. It's something they could have done a better job on and some people do care about how the cars come out. Like someone said in another thread, "It's about marketing." You could ask, "Why do you care about...." all day long.

As it shows, people here aren't interested in the same things so why comment on the fact that people didn't like the ****y job they did to that Max?

damn....i actually liked it I mean really...it's a 84 maxima wagon. they weren't the prettiest cars. Sure, the choice of colors were not too good, but it was a big improvement. I wish they found a better fitting front bumper too. At least there was no expresso machine or makeup station, like that poor Trans Am. oh yea....the chandelier too.

I didn't say you guys couldn't discuss it. It's still here in Gen and it's still open.

I'm just stating that you guys shouldn't expect anything else but exactly what those guys do. Since when has "pimping" ever done in good mainstream taste? It's all over the top stuff.

Of course they could have done a bunch of other stuff to it. But if they did just a "nice" job, who would watch the show? Who really cares about old **** cars that are just done up normally? No one.

Of course some people care how their car would turn out. But the people that West Coast Customs (or the show's production staff picks) don't. The people that would actually care, wouldn't get picked nor would they submit their car to be picked. Would you let those guys touch your car? No way!

Yeah, my problem with Pimp My Ride is that they don't upgrade or fix the engine/tranny or suspensions that you know are on their last legs. Then again, I know its just for entertainment-so the focus of the show is on APC interiors, chrome rims, custom paint. At least "overhaulin" really restores the cars. And are the feature brands, especially the rims the best rims, or just a "big sponsor"????

Well then don't watch it. Very simple. But the thing is, everyone that is complaining about the show still watches it. Thus the ratings are high. Thus the show continues. Thus you guys have a show to complain about.

Who cares about some generic filter or engine oil? Good ideas?? Sure you bet. Good for ratings? Not really.

All I have to say is...I was excited all week because they kept saying "Maxima" on the commercials. For some reason in my head I kept seeing either a 3rd or possibly a really beat up 4th gen...not an old Datsun wagon. To me that was disappointing.

I don't particularly like the way the hook up the cars but cmon you mean to tell me that if you had that piece of junk you would not be happy.. Hell I have a 2004 maxima and I would let them pimp my ride. I just wonder if they could get tokico or KYB to make some aftermarket struts. They would definitely put Giovanna wheels and then I would just sell them Please MTV, "PIMP MY RIDE" LOL

this car is off the hook. Especially love the enterior. This car now has a 2nd life. A piece of advise to owner- make sure you have a good alarm system, and insurance. I would mod the powertrain to have the complete package.

sometimes, i just feel like the show is called "rice up my ride" The other day I saw a white boy (i can say that, ive cleared it with my white friends) who had some weird minivan, and they put a fuking wing on it and made it look ricey... why would you spend 20k to make something look rice?

Yeah, I saw that episode with the tiny "Jet" minivan. I wondered if it's tiny alternator could power all those electrical devices and if it's tiny engine power the 1) bigger wheels 2) spoiler 3) dvd/cd/speakers/monitors, etc. Maybe worse than that was the episode where they riced out a '92 Civic for some girl that need a car to take her grandmother to the dr. with. We are talking APC racing seats, Lamborghini vertical rising front doors-how they squeezed the grandmother into those bolstered seats through the now tiny 12" door openings, I'll never know...

I'm sure they do some engine work if it needs to be done... they just don't air it, because like jeff said, who cares?

I'm sure they're not doing hardcore performance upgrades, but if something's broken or dying, I bet they'll fix/replace it. do you really think they'd spend $20,000 on a car that won't run once the kid gets it home?

Opinions, opinions....for one, I am impressed by the fact that they had the ***** to even attempt a Maxima wagon build up.
2nd, custom work of any kind requires definite thought (even if anyone thinks it looks like ****). Anyone can bolt on an intake and a strut tower brace, but it takes some vision (even if it comes out ugly) to create something custom.
3rd, two weeks before that show, I was thinking about buying a Max wagon just for building it custom, but *******ed MTV beat me to it...bastards....

i thick the paint is the worst i have ever seen. but they do some good work. the honda civic they did was great. minus the paint job. and on the civic they did do an intake. but definatly for the average watcher they don't wanna see motor upgrades. and i have ssen them put oil in a car so it implies that they do something to the motor. but this maxima has an ok interior. i hate the colors but thats not up to us. maybe they ask the guy his favorite colors and thats what the work with??? dunno just my $.02

one thing i will never understand is where they get the term "PIMP" ??

what makes the cars they do PIMP, look at the bumper gap on the front, HUGE gap between headlights and grill and bumper. how is that PIMP? looks like ghetto bumper hangin with duck tape and how is it any different than the back bumper hangin in there with ROPE?? SAME thing. hangin with buncha ropes or hangin with a big gap in between.

they really need to change the shows name to RICE my ride, anything that rolls out of there is 100% full rice, nothing near pimp.

oh yea guys check out my PIMP ride with big a$$ bumper gap. its PIMP

dont forget my NONFUNCTIONAL hood scoop from a civic.

Ghetto = Pimp.

Ghetto + Big Chromies = Super Pimp (they don't even need to be real.. plastic sprayed chrome hubcaps work).

Ghetto + Big Chromies + Stereo System = PIMP.

... drive by your closest "hood" and take a look at the cars around there. If you have spinners be they fake or real, or just chrome rims and a stereo system that can blast some rap. Then you're the f*ckin man!

Why? i don't know.. that's just the style.. personally i don't have much against it.. but droppin 5 g's on pirelli's isn't my cup of tea either.

*Update* Oh and i just realized something... what some people call "RICE" others call "PIMP" ... so if it helps any i suppose RICE = PIMP....

"To each his own" .. for instance, personally i have a natural reaction that angers me when i see a civic drive by with multiple colored parts that look like sh*t, and a fart cannon, sounding like a fat *** farting the whole way.... but some people enjoy that.

Yeah what the hell was up with that... Well West coast customs might not do any engine work but now the owner only has to put his/her money into modding the engine/tranny.. they dont have to mess around with spending time and money on the body work/ interior/ audio system...

At least they worked on a maxima and did some intovative stuff,,, like eibachs custom one off springs. All you are haters.....Just respect the people that have a passion for cars. Personaly id rather drive that car then before west coast had it.

Im not sure if you guys have realized it but the show "PIMP MY RIDE" trys to make ugly mexican rice cars. not clean stylish ones. after all its just entertanement and you just got PIMPED!

I just watched another episode and they opened the hood and put a new filter and new oil in there. It's getting "better"
