first 4th gen Aerogear CF hood *LOTS OF PICS*

Wassup guys

After about 2 hours of dremel work around the latch area... we finally fixed the problem we were having... I guess i was expecting this because it is the first hood they have completed for the maxima. It's designed and made by Aerogear.

I don't have the EXACT specs.. I will get them next month when they finish modifying their template overseas. The hood is about 15lb!!!!!!! At least that's what he said it was... and it was pretty damn light too.

The latch IS metal reinforced... so no plastic like the issues I've read before... trust me, that's the first thing I asked lol.

Price i'm not sure, he said he'd give me it next month. I can only imagine it would be around $400-450 considering that's the regular price for the rest of the hoods they make... they also come with a limited lifetime warranty too which is pretty cool.

ANYWAYS, here we go... PICS. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to take underbody pics... those will come tomorrow. I took some pics earlie today in the sun so people could see what it looks like. I do have high resolution pics, but here are my resized ones:

Sweet. Looks like a great fit.

What was the latch problem that you were enduring?

And you better get some of those called hood pins so that thing doesn't fly away being that it's only 15lbs!

hoodpins are "recommended" ... but since my hood is such a tight fit (i mean REALLY tight fit...), this baby doesn't vibrate or move at all when I was driving 80mph today.

I did buy gunmetal hoodpins at hookup price JUST IN CASE i felt like putting them on... but most likely not.

Here are the underbody pics and the hacked latch they had to do. They took pics of it and measurements to send it overseas to their factory to fix the problem.

I will take any more pics if anyone requests a certain angle or spot or whatnot... it's dark now though.

Aerogear plans to make 2 bodykits and a wing for the maxima too. They were surprised it came with a V6 and optional 5-spd!

I'd put the hood pins on right away. It's a smart thing to do. I also see that the other side isn't CF, just like the other hoods. Fiberglass I'm guessing?

With the stock hydraulics on your hood, how hard is it to close your hood now? Granted the hydraulics on my hood can barely hold my hood open.

actually, my hood struts are useless... well one of em broke, but it is still not light enough for the other to hold it up by itself. I would not recommend using it with this hood.

The bottom of the hood is CF, the black skelaton is fiberglass.

i dont... they havne't even started yet. They said that they had plans for it already. They were actually really surprised that our cars came with a V6 and option for 5-spd lol. Maximas are always underestimated! But seriously, they know their **** real good. They had to do alot of custom cutting and such and finally got that latch working for me, even tho it is a really tight fit. They spent alot of time fixin it.

Yeah, nadir jumped on that quick. I called em the next morning after it was posted, but they had already gotten a call from nadir It's all good tho. Looks nice nadir! It would be a shame if you had to dirty it with ricey hood pins, but just make sure you're safe.

Yeah, I did get that sponsorship last year after WizzaMax posted it in the west coast forum. THANK YOU WIZZA.

Please post pics from the underside looking directly through the hood. Preferably when its sunny. I would like to see proof that its 2 layers or at least 1 thick layer. Also, is there any way they can make the hood without washer holes? Finally, what is the actual weight? About 15Ibs isn't very accurate.

that latch doesnt look any better then the Redlinemax.com/GTP hood ... if anything it looks flimsier.

good idea going with gunmetal hood pins they will mesh better with the hood... i personally got mine powder-coated black and they look awesome.

The latch is anything but flimsy... made of metal and the plate connected to it is pretty wide too. The only dremel work we ended up doing was just shaving away the fiberglass.

I don't know if this is what you meant.... but if you want to see how thick the layer is, the closeup of the window washer nozzle holes do the best job at it.

The specifics on the weight and such is not confirmed.. will get that info by the end of June. The hood is being redesigned for the latch... but as soon as i find out, ill get the pricing and such and maybe even organize a group deal if there was enough interest.
