I was in an accident earlier this year, and my tranny took some pretty bad damage. The other guys insurance (GEICO) is giving me a hard time to cover damages. I need a 5 speed tranny for a 96 SE. Any suggestions. Lee Myles wants $1400 to rebuild my tranny and Courtesy Nissan wants $1400 for a new one. Can anyone get me a better price, of have any suggestions. I've been without my car for almost 3 months. This sucks!!!!
I've got a ton of parts waiting to be installed. How can I go about handling this???

File a claim with your own insurer and have them subrogate Geico...

Or you can do what Keven did locate a tranny with VSLD.. trannies to look for .. I30 5spd tranny's (good luck, you can hardly find the car), or Canadian Maxima's..

or you can use http://www.copartfinder.com find a totalled max and use that tranny.. you should be able to pick one up for $700

I'm moving shortly and I cant afford to wait on the insurance companies any longer. I need my ride. I'd like to get a new or like new condition tranny for the best possible price. I cant afford to buy something that has seen a fair amount of abuse already. LSD would be nice, but in all honesty I dont race my car, I'm more of a street enthusiast. I'd like good power to travel the highway. I may visit a 1/4 mile twice a year, but I dont care about shaving every last tenth. I'll probably go with rebuild current tranny or just get a new one for what the rebuild is gonna cost. Just looking for the best price possible. Anyone else out there looking maybe we can buy 2 trannies and get a discount. I think its worth a try!
