On my way to the track a couple of weekends ago for a import shoot out race, there was a guy pumping gas next to me at the station. I had my trunk open, NX bottle, slicks, jack, stands, and toolbox esposed and he was looking inside, because I was getting some instant detailer out of there and he says to me: " Nice Maxima. I had the same maxima, but mine was all hooked up and stuff, you know neons, h.i.d.s, and a turbo and supercharger".

My favorite compliment that sometimes makes me feel like my borderline obssessive compulsive detailing and maintenance is worth it is when people ask me if it is a new maxima, or ask me if it is a new paint job.

Man I am always getting perfect strangers just walking up to me and telling me how much they like my car. Just the other day someone asked me if something was wrong with my car because he said it was making a funny noise and i told "nop thats just the supercharger " and i tell you his jaw hit the floor. I am deffinetley not bragging because i feel the car still has a lot of work to be done to it and sometimes i just don't like all the extra attention this car gets. Working on my car is just one of my hobbies and sometimes i get aggravated with all the attention, but i guess it comes with the territory.

Almost made a guy get in a wreck the other day because he was looking at my car instead of watching the person in front of him

You know that look that Donald Sutherland gives the lady with the baby carriage at the end of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? I get that a lot.

I think the best one I've got so far was from a middle aged women at the front office of my apartment complex at the time. In the process of paying the months rent she commented:

"I love that Acura of yours. I just noticed today that it's actually a dark green and not black."

At her age, I couldn't blame her. I know she just didn't know any better, so I took it as a complement and politely corrected her.

One that never gets old though is: "Wow! Is that the new 2 thousand blah blah Maxima?!"

....its all in paint baby!!
