Stage II VB Mod feel

It's installed and all. Shift great when driving hard. But when driving slow from a stop, it just clunks into second gear. Is this anybody elses' experience?

I'm wondering if this mod can be bad for a trans life at low speeds. I remember that someone ruined their trans with the drop resistor mod driving everywhere they went. I realize that was full line pressure all the time. Can too much line pressure at low speed be bad?

How does Don's Mobiltek VB mod feel?

Anybody have Stage 1? How's that feel?

I've had Don's VB for a few years now and his pretty much shifts the same way. Ever since MaxTun been offering stage I II and III I've always been curious what their stages felt like. With Don's VB the 1-2 upshift at WOT can be a tab bit harder, his 2-3 WOT upshift is perfect feels great, but during regular light throttle city stop and go traffic the slapping into gears and become a little annoying. The slapping into gear is exaggerated more if you have poly-urethane engine mounts like I have.

i also have stage 2, was one of the first ones to get it last fall. yea, sometimes the tranny slams into 2 gear... i think "throttle modulation" is the answer. i pretty much "feel" when it will shift, so easing on the gas usually makes the shifts softer.

yes. that slapping into gears is annoying. I'm just wondering if it's bad for the transmission.

Couldn't agree with you more, throttle modulation is your new best friend. Kinda like learning heel and toe and slipping the clutch just right for us auto's

no. its not actually slamming into gear its just changing vey quickly in a newer car it probably would be smoother do to the fact our cars are a little older and weaker. it reduces wear and tear because the clutches are not sliding causing them to burn out quick. i have stage 3 and like they said you have to finesse the gas peddle to get a smooth shift. its not the best mod in the world but it prolongs the tranny life which is why i got mine.

You know, the first day it was on it would shift so hard that I felt like it would just tug kinda hard as it shifted WOT from 1st to 2nd. Now it just feels like it's not as hard. I don't feel it slamming into gear at low speeds anymore, but still harder than stock at all speeds. Is it just me? or have some of the rest of you noticed that it kinda toned down a little after the first couple of days. I can't even peel out 2nd anymore. But I did get new tires and it was a little wet on the first day.

Ever since I installed mine, the car sometimes has problems downshifting if you slow for a light, and don't stop. It tends to stay in 3rd instead of dropping down. I manually shift mine all the time now, but sometimes it is annoying. I have a spare VB, and I am thinking of getting Stage 3 done to it. I did clean the magnets, and changed over to Amsoil tranny fluid. I am happy with the 1-2, and 2-3 shifts. 1-2 is firm, and fast. 3-4 is nothing more than a change in RPM.

A lot of cabs and cop cars have vb mods. The fast shifting is actually easier on the tranny and they do it because of the longer life.

It is harder on U joints and motor mounts though

What do you mean the 3-4 change in rpm? shiftpoints changed?

i think he means that he doesnt feel it 'slam' into gear... only notices the RPM's change when it shifts
