Racing Seats and other mods!

I wanted to add some type of two-tone color scheme to my seats I was going to get leather but down here in south Georgia our summers get real hot. So I decided to get some racing seats.

I got these seats off Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2479693172

Along w/these 4-point blue harness’
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2479910899

I went to my local junkyard and got some stock seats out of a wrecked Maxima $25.00 for each seat and I removed the stock brackets from the seats and fabbed them to fit these seats (a week of test fitting) so they bolt right in including the stock seat belts. These seats weigh the same as my stock seats 31.5 lbs. so there is no weight saving. These seats are soft but firm I like how they feel. The 4 point harness really hold you in the seat.

I also dyed my trunk panels to match my black carpet. I went to Advance Auto Parts and bought some Dupli-Color interior dye ($5.00 a can).

I also added black carbon fiber look vinyl to my door panels.

I had my Maxima.org windshield banner on my car for two years it was starting to come off so I got this one.

What is the 4pt harness bolt it to? Don't tell me the floor or the seat brackets. If so I'd get it fixed ASAP. Only CORRECT way to do it is to have them bolted into somwthing behind the seat. If they are bolted to the floor, when you brake suddenly the harness wil compress your spine and you'll still go forward instead of getting pulled back against the seat.

That fire extinguisher on the pillar is a scary place to put it. Dont want to have that hit your head if it ever comes loose

If you don't use the shoulder belts and only use the lap belt you should be fine. However if you do use the shoulder belts they'll do more damage than good.

Good job, looks good. Hey, when you say fabbed, what exactly did you have to do; cut, drill, weld? Please elaborate. I wanna do this cause I hate the factory seats. This might be a how to's candidate.

The trunk looks 100000000x better with the carpet dyed. The box looks like part of it instead of like it's just sitting there. Great job. As for the seats, I love the look of them (and they look comfortable) but you might want to consider using the harnesses for show only. Stock 3-point belts will protect you much better in a crash. Not to mention the fact that if you crash and roll over, harnesses will not allow you to bend so you don't get crushed.

How do the seats feel after you have used them for a week or so? I am interested in getting some race seats but i'm torn. I'm not sure if I should get ebay seats or if I should shell out more money to get sparco

like everyone else on these boards I will state my personal opinion and experience I'm 5' 7" 180lbs I like the seats and how they feel you are sitting more up right and must be a in "race ready" position in driving which makes you keep your hands on the steering wheel and pay attention to driving the car and there is no slouching down in the seat so your driving position is safer for you it takes some getting used to compared to the stock seats as w/anything you are used to for a while then a sudden change you will adapt to it....I use my stock seatbelts when I drive the 4 point harness limit your movement they are just for show anyway...
