100MPH. Weird Noise. Belts?

I am getting this weird humming noise when my car is in idle and when I accelerate the car. It isn't coming from the wheels it is coming from the engine. It all happend when I drove 100mph and then I parked the car and when I started it again the noise was there. I did have some cracks in the belts..Im thinking maybe it has to do with my belts? I only have 52k and I know I should replace them at 60k. The car is old so I figure the mileage means nothing and I should have replaced them after 4 years.
If it is the belts and I just started hearing some noise what are the chances it will last me this week (400 miles)? I don't have time to change them until Saturday.
Thanks

I was under the impression that our belts should last a very long time. Am I wrong?

Change belts every 20-30k miles, replacements are $10-15 a piece
