yea I dont know why people are more excited about something going on in 2005 than current. I guess they can say they are in now and then back out like 75% of them do anyway. With this it involves a deposit and its scaring all the ones that say they will go and then not show up off.

well I think the goal was around 50 people driving which would bring it to around $50 per person. It should be a little less once we get a total count of whos going just to watch.

Might be that this just hasn't gotten around the net of yet...

Is there a link in the 1/4 mile forum about this event yet? If not there should be...

The problem is we really can't sit around and wait any longer. A deposit must be sent to the track ASAP. It appears that there isn't much interest in a event like this. It's amazing that there are so many Maxima owners within 5 hours of the event, but they're not coming. Who really cares about the racing? It's more about meeting everyone. Who cares if your Maxima doesn't do 13s or 14s? Just come out and have a good time.

simple fact is most maxima owners dont give a hoot about racing and they'd rather just meet in a parking lot or at a park and not have to pay $50 to stand around and look at all the pretty cars...

What is even more sad is that we have plastered this all over just about every Nissan forum known to man. I guess Nissan owners are a bunch of chicken ****, yellow, scared, p^ssies. The Honda kiddies would have filled this thing up already.

If I can drive 12 hrs from Canada I would hope that more of you guys closer are willing to come.

Its funny, here if you say Test and Tune you can get a little response, but mention a race and everyone clams up. Maybe its the intimidation factor of being in front of a bunch of spectators or something, I'm not sure.

I do know that I go to virtually every race here for imports (sport compacts) which amounts to about 12 a year. Only once have I seen another Maxima.

A couple of weeks ago there was an all Nissan track day http://www.gtasentra.net/board/index...;threadid=4314 it was posted on the Sentra, Altima, Maxima, 350Z forums as well as others. There was one Maxima (me), one Altima and a handful of SE-R's, a few older Z's but no 350's. Really makes you wonder. Everyone talks the talk but not to many walk the walk.

Not sure I want to push it to the limit being 12 hrs from home in a foreign country but I will run some 12's.

as it sits right now it will be $78 per person for the 31 entered. The way I broke it down was $2500 worse case possible, subtracted $70 for the 7 spectators and it came out to $78 and change per racer. Would you guys be willing to pony up that amount of money for this. I say prepay whoever plans to head this $50 and whatever the difference is pay when we get there or all meet up the night before and settle the money situation. I really want this to happen and right now $78 is worse case for everyone wanting to race. Im sure we can get 10 or so more before Sept to cut cost even more.

I'm game for $78.

because imagine how many more runs we can get in with only 30 people...

if there is 50 people, we have to wait in line a heck of a lot longer...

$78 is a great deal. Think about what we are getting for $78....a chance for all of us true nissan racing enthusiasts to get together and have a whole track to our selves!! I know I am pretty pumped about getting to see some of you guys run. We are going to have some of the fastest known N/A and FI maximas in the US! What more could we ask for.

And even 50 cars at the track is nothing. I bet with 50 cars there, 1/2 of the time there won't be anyone running.

Me and my SRT-4 friend are still down. We were planning on spending $$ anyway (on top of the race $$) to book a room to stay overnight. But as it stands, we will just cough up a bit more to race and just drive back home that same evening and relax...Unless of course we can get a room and with somebody and split the cost...

You guys are right. The Nissan crowd appears to be a bunch of wannabees. VQ my a$$! Nobody wants to make a good showing. Get a meet together at a park and see them file in. Get a track meet together, see 30 sign in, and 8 people show. Anyway rant mode off.

I'd even like to do bracket racing. Let me go first since I do mid-high 14's, let Matt or whomever go exactly one second later as they do mid-high 13's, blah blah, etc. I think that would be interesting.

I REALLY hope this happens, since I already told the s.o. she would have me off and she has made plans. Hanging out with you car nuts should be a real treat ya know? Plus a road trip is always a beatiful thing, letting her stretch her legs on the hwy is sweet.

i leave august 31st, but if i were here in sept i would pay $78 easy to race with all you guys.

i drive 2.5 hours to the track and 2.5 back , with gas, paying to race, and food for two. I spend 100 dollars easy.

but the catch here is having the track to yourself, and not having to wait.

someone could make a small signature image with all the trackday details and everyone could put it in there signature. just a thought !

I've got a great idea....

Change the thread topic to "I JUST INSTALLED MY CAI ON MY STOCK 00 MAXIMA AND PULLED 2 CARS ON A Z06"

I bet the thread would get a lot more views

I say we charge the watchers $20. Se then we pay around 70. And I hope we got alot more people, becasue 70 is still kinda steep.

$78 sounds good to me.

once we get this settled on, we should start a list of people who are going to be staying friday and saturday night so we can split up some hotel rooms.

ooooooh this is exciting

i didnt realize how few racing enthusiasts we actually have

Guys, I will try to go ahead and call them back tomorrow and put down a deposit and get the info sent to me. A company has agreed to pay the deposit for the track, so I will pay it out of my pocket if I can tomorrow and then get people to start sending me some money if thats okay with everyone. Let me know.

$78

I'm game at that price...if more come, then that's cool too...we'll just rent the ambulence or give money back to the people that initially paid $78...you never know when someone will get stabbed out there...

(KC guys know what I'm talking about...)

This is just a suggestion, but I helped coordinate the first NPM event a couple of years back, and for the drag strip portion of the event, I was able to secure the track in Steele starting at 12pm, and running until 3pm, before others were allowed to join in for the regular test and tune, which runs until dark.

They did all this for nothing extra out of pocket. Just the $10 per person, and a promise that 75-100 ppl would show up. They also advertised our event on their site, and provided soda, chips, etc.

They did as promised, and is was a great event, with as many runs as you wanted to run. Not to mention the times at Steele tend to be better, and the track has been re-done since then.

Just a suggestion.

My question is this then, if we're doing the $78 entry fee (which is fine), shouldn't that mean we're drawing the line on attendants which would be ~35. I don't want to fork over $78 and then have some other guy show and he only has to put in $30 or less. First come first serve, I say.

What about rain outs? It looks like we only have to submit the deposit of $200 then we're free and clear until we show up then which we pay the full amount? I have no problems giving some deposit money if we get rained out and they have to hold on to the deposit.

As for hotels, you'll find me camping out on thier onsite campgrounds.

I was thinking possible a $50 deposit which will lock most in and then whatever the difference pay the week before the meet. There is still a chance we could get 50+/- people by Sept and if more then the extra cash will go towards cash prizes etc. Im hoping to get more sign ups that are willing to deposit the $50.

So to sum it up I say we deposit $50(soon)and lets have a cutoff date of August 28th to cover the difference depending on the amount of participants. We need to make sure the list is updated and whoever shows that isnt on the list will pay the same total as the other participants with the left over sum going towards cash prizes.
