I recently purchased an '01 from a used car dealer. The remotes were not included with the vehicle and believed to have been stolen somewhere in the auction cycle. I purchased a replacement on ebay but have been unsuccessful in programming it. I'm confident that I am doing the process correctly (the hazards flash, etc), so I think the remote is incompatable with my car.

Is there any way to know exactly which remotes will work for a specific car? According to the Nissan dealer, even if the FCC numbers match up, that's still no guarantee. Keep in mind I have no existing remotes to compare-I'm starting with nothing. And, according to my dealer, the car has remote entry.

 

it may be broken, go to a nissan dealer, we have these little machines that can test a remote, it takes 5 seconds and they shouldnt charge you anything
