60,000 miles Service Engine Light?

I just hit 60,000 on my 2002 Maxima. Service Engine light just went on right after I hit 60,000. Should I take it to dealer or does it automatically go off at 60,000? Any help?

I would guess it's because of the mileage but don't really know (4th gen don't have this). If you don't want to do it yourself you should take it somewhere for the 60k service. The dealer will charge WAY more than a private shop and probably won't have any problems, just get some feedback from other 5th gen owners to be sure they don't have any dealer owner items. They probably don't though.

Call dealer, some are nice enough to do warrenty work a few hundred or thousand miles over the expiration period.

The light is NOT programmed to come on with mileage. Take your car to AutoZone and get the code read for free.

Go from there...

Most people experience failure of the boost sensor in the EVAP around 50-60k. Too bad Nissan doesn't use better suppliers for their parts--a better part could save all those labor costs. They fooled us, but they didn't fool JD Power!
