Black or Silver?

Black or Silver?
Which do you all think is better for a 4th gen max of these two colors, silver or black? I think I like both colors, there's a max selling near me which is silver, I checked it out, looks real slick. But I always told myself I wanna get a black car. Vote in the poll for which you think looks best on a 4th gen max. Also, does one color need more maintenance than the other?
Thanks.

black all the way. Silver is slick too but black is so nice when its shinney. i wish i had a picture on this computer of my car all shinned up but i dont. Silver can also get dirty too. If you dont mind cleaning the car (which i dont) then black is fine. Looks real slick with black tint too! Good luck. What ever you like, its your choice dont forget!
EDIT: schronged around and found a pic!
There you go!
P.S sorry for the 4x4 look!

Black looks too damn good, but the problem is maintaining it... If you know what you are doing, that would be the color for you.. If you want less hassel, silver. Both are really good colors... Except too many people have silver....

No doubt....I always wanted a black 5th gen....my dad bought himself a black volvo....granted it looks awesome after you clay, polish and wax the **** out of it, it's just doesn't stay that way. Silver would look pretty nice dirty or clean...and doesn't show imperfections well.

Black (you can seem I'm biased with the Black Emerald)! I have owned 4 silver cars in my lifetime and they are borrrrrring! Must admit I've never owned a silver Maxima, but they too are borrrrring.
Somebody I know let me use someking of a mop thingy with a handle to clean my car. I'm not sure what its called exactly, a California something or other.
I used it to clean my car when it was dusty. He maintains the dirtier it gets the better it works and its not even a K&N filter, lol! He has used it on his black car for about a year with no adverse effects to the clearcoat or paint finish. It doesn't work properly if the car is wet, but it did a pretty good job in cleaning my car and may be worthy of consideration to use until the car gets the weekend or semi-monthly spruceup or whatever.
Does anyone know what I am referring to? This thing was on a handle and lay flat and was about two feet long or more and eight or ten inches wide and was amazing.

My parents both have tan cars, trust me, silver is a huge leap in excitement over seeing tan all your life. I think I like both colors equally, wouldn't mind having either.
Sorry, didn't mean to offend any Sterling Mist owners, I should have used the correct term.
But about the black, does having a black car really mean more maintenance? Like you have to polish/wash your car alot more if you want the car to look good?

Black gives you more choices for interior/exterior accents (brake calipers, two-tone seating/leather/dash/etc, engine) whereas silver usually just lends itself to more silver, or black.
But my sterling mist max looks a lot cleaner with no effort than some black maxes look with a token effort at detailing....

It depends how **** the owner is fadeaway. A little dirt doesn't bother me and I have been accused of being as **** retentive as they get, lol! My car was Diamond Coated when new and I don't wash it perhaps as often as I should, but it doesn't bother me. I get the car detailed professionally once a year and the Diamond Coat restorer reapplied then (no other wax in the interim) and when washed it still looks pretty well like it came out of the showroom.

IMO sterling mist is PIMP. black is all over, any car comes in black but sterling mist is unique, u rarely ever see a car that comes close to this color. sterling mist rosewood and light green are my favorite colors for max. neptune blue as well.
but imo sterling mist is best out of them all. its shinny when clean, still looks clean when dirty. and at nights it looks awesome. in dark places it looks pinkish which i love !!!

can't go wrong w/ both
I agree, black is a p.i.t.a to maintain, I should know this, I had a Black '98 Altima GLE before the Max. The Alt was a pain to keep clean b/c it was black, but when waxed, it is one of the sharpest colors ever
sterling mist/silver is low-maintenance but looks equally nice as black for a Max
If my brother hadn't given me his Arctic White Max back, along w/ myself getting the Grand Cherokee, I'd have gotten a sterling mist 4th gen since my friend has a black '97 Max GLE
but hey, I'm happy having a white '98 Max and a silver '04 GC

I've owned the required one black car in my lifetime - and will never, never, never own another one. I am WAY too picky to own a color that shows every minute swirl, scratch, spec of dust. I have a Titanium Silver Alti and the custom Pearl White Max. Much easier colors to maintain

For sure black. Check my homepage for more. Black matches everything, door pillars, tint, wheels, kickpanels, grille, everything else on the car is defaulted to black so everything matches. It is way harder to maintain and keep clean though.

DAAYYYUUMMM!! You really know how to take care of that ****.. plus you probably spend more time on it too.. Im too lazy, I learned my lesson with a black car and I will never get one again until im filthy rich to where I can pay people to wax and clean my cars.

Silver! I own a silver Max (not the same silver as the US silver, but stillsilver ) and I personally think it's the best colour the Maxima came in You need to make sure you'll be able to enjoy the car even though it's silver and not the black you've longed for otherwise driving might become a chore rather then fun.

Ill have to agree..I own silver (sterling mist) 99 Maxima SE.
I also own a black 90 Maxima SE. Very hard to keep clean and shiny.

I bought my 98 SE new, super black with charcoal cloth interior. It looked fantastic. then I scuffed a bumper, then I parked it in the sun in August, then I didn't wash it for 2 weeks. NOTHING looks better than Super Black clean and in mint condition, but nothing gets hotter in the summer time.
My 03 is sheer silver (too good of a deal to pass up) and even with the black leather interior it's noticeably cooler than my 98. You also can't even notice the highway dings on the hood like you could on the black. I think 4th gens look better in black with all the blackout trim, but the 5th and 6th gens look better in shades of silver because of the chrome.

I was between sterling mist and black when I was buying my max and chose black bc it hides body cuts (door, hood, bumper gaps) and makes holes (like grille, etc.) less apparent if that makes any sense...but it does annoy me how it shows swirl marks and imperfections like crazy.
