5-9 volt led's

I just got some leds, but they can only use 5-9 volts. What resistor do I need to drop the 12volts from the battery to about 6 volts?

By Ohm's law if you put in a series resistance equal to the same resistance as your LEDs, you will get 6 volts dropped across each.
