VI How-to?

I was wondering if any of you who have done the variable intake installation on a 4th gen would be willing to write a guide on how to do it. I know this mod will be the next big thing for 4th gen Maxima owners and whoever writes the guide will be hailed as a demigod of maxima.org So who's up for it? Oh and pictures would be a huge plus.

Not quite what I was lookin' for. I should have specified that I wanted to know how to transplant a VI from the 2000 Maxima to a 4th gen.

You have to give these guys some time to get that together. It's a lot more work than what it takes to put the MEVI on a 4th Gen.

Yeah, I know. I just thought I'd ask for one at some point. Personally, I'm aching to do this but I know I can't because my automotive knowledge is pretty limited. I like to work on my car but guides and whatnot are key.

I'll try to get something put together, though I think krismax's write-up will be more popular as I eliminated the entire EGR system and that spaghetti mess of vacuum lines right above the tranny. Plus side to my install is I used the 5th gen TB and IACV. eliminating the need for that special 4th gen IACV adapter piece.

Hmmmm, I didn't know you were doing this also. Have you driven the car yet? How's the idle?

I've had it done for about a month now. The car feels great. I was controlling the idle with the throttle cable tensioner at first but after a couple weeks I reduced the tension on the cable so it'd close all the way and the car idles right at 700 rpms. Before, it was a little bouncy.

Only problem I've run into is, about once a week the car absolutely races everywhere I go. The idle stays very high and won't come down. It'll usually only do it for one trip though. After I shut it off and start it again, it runs perfectly normal. Haven't figured that one out yet.

I have some pics of it on my cardomain site.

I've got a V-AFC that I need to install and then go get it tuned. She's running a bit rich right now. I'm hoping to use the VTEC output to kick the manifold open.

Whenever it has it's little racing fit, the intake gets a LOT louder. Sounds like a huge vacuum cleaner under my hood. It never does it at a time when I can stop and check anything though. Always in the middle of traffic when I don't have any tools with me. I'll get it tracked down one of these days I guess.
