how do i remove the ash/change tray from a 2002?

how do i remove the ash/change tray from a 2002?
the felt change tray is out but i am trying to remove the main part of the unit. the door that swivles open and closed. i see the 2 tabs on either side but when i press on them it wont come out. what do i do?
