SRT-4 are all 2.4L Turbo 5 speeds and were never manufacutred in an auto....

I miss my SRT-4 seats, for some reason I have yet to get a good seating position in the MAX...

My seating position is seat all the way bac, still not enough leg room, and the back of the seat at almost 90*. Before I used to have the back at maybe 70*.

Congrats on your new car, your SRT4 looked very clean and looks like it was lots of fun.

The Maxima seats are pretty unsuportive, expecially for a sports sedan.

I wish i could switch cars. I want an electric blue SRT-4. Love those cars and i would easily give up my max for one. Ive taken a ride in 2 and raced one (very very very very close race!).

well i have nosed out a few wins against some of the stock srt-4's 2003 models (14.1-14.5 area), lost a few, and got totally destroyed by a few. we have a guy in town that ran a best of 11.9 with slicks and nitrous, and another guy over at the track rezin8 was running easy mid to low 13's and hit 12.9s with slicks. i forget all the times, but the srt-4 will spank many a car with some tinkering.

some people say o its a neon, but i say," O, ITS A NEON !" You have to drive like a fool just to keep up with the little devil ! but hey i like the performance side of things and i like that car too.

I could barely get my fat azz into the SRT-4 seats in the show room. So I bought an 04 Max that has plenty of seat room to grow into.

Yea, you do need to have a somewhat narrow *** to fit into the seats before they break in a bit. All in all it was an awesome car and I loved the dam thing, but my wife did not! She worries every time I own a fast car, I didn’t want to put her threw any more heartache so I went with the Max…

I’ve owned very few domestic cars, but for anyone who is thinking of an SRT-4, I could defiantly recommend it as tough little bad *** car.

Thanks again for the warm WELCOME!

Even if you lose to a srt-4 you still know that you can still kick the other guys' *** badly. If he fits into that little thing, he should be a pushover. I want a muffin.

Any car like a 350Z, RX-8 Lancer EVO, WRX STI & SRT that are considered sport compacts will most likely be beat down right off the showroom floors and fall under a bit of a different category that a luxury sport sedan in terms of gauging reliability. Look at the demographics of people who buy this type of car vs. a Luxury sport sedan and you’ll see that hitting 200k is not the only way to gauge the reliability. Here is a good example... 167pases 12.60 on the stock turbo with 42k on the OD and no major problems

My SRT was a great little sleeper had a few mods too...18" Wheels, Mopar Short throw shifter, Booger bushings, Progress springs, Mopar BOV, DC Sports Front & Rear Strut tower braces, $20 catch can,180 degree thermostat, Denso Iridium ITV20 plugs, Denso Performance 8mm wire set, AGP WGA, Mopar stage 1, Hallman Pro RX boost controller, BDJ'S 3" twister center dump exhaust.

Oh and thanks for the welcome...

i have met SRT gurl. her car is pretty cool i have been to a couple of neon/maxima dyno days here in mass. there nice cars and endless potential but for me the fact that its a neon kills it. no disrespect to dodge or anything but i am not a big fan of cheap compacts. my buddy has a lancer evo 8 and i dis like that car as well. i recently looked at a 04 Se-R spec v and the interior quality on these cars a poor. but i guess that's because if you spend the money on performance interior quality may suffer. in any even welcome to the org

Welcome to the site.

I have to admit I'm not a fan of the SRT-4s styling, but damn...that's the best SRT-4 I've ever seen. It's really the way the car should have come from the factory. The stock wing is the most hideous early 1990s-looking peice of crap I've ever seen on a late model car.

How was the ride on the drop? It looks like you had a near 2" drop in the rear.

I was on Progress spring with the factory shocks pushing 18 wheels and the ride quality was surprisingly good for a little car.

Here is what the Wreck looked like...

C&D gives an 03 15.0 flat for the 1/4. No spec on whether it's auto or manual, but probably the latter. In either case, I don't think many 02s/03s are capable of 14.3 out of the factory!

Look at the trap speeds though. They're getting 95-97mph stock. Any car capable of 95-97mph traps is more than capable of low to mid 14s with good driving, good traction, and a good track. There are 5.5 gen owners that have hit 14.2s bonestock. It's rare and far from the norm, but it's been done.

We all know the 5.5 gens do much better than that just look atthe times alot uf us are getting with bone stock automatics 14.6-14.8's. C/D only tested one 5.5 gen back in Oct 02 and they got a 14.7 1/4mile @ 97mph.

Stop going by magazine times people, these drivers have very little experience with the specific car itself to drive it to its full potential... that and IF they're a good driver

Very well said, i cant stand when people quote magazine times as fact. Their a decent source to go by, as you can easily compare MPH to the actual time...but they are far, far from perfect...

Wow, what a horrific accident! You were very lucky to not have been seriously hurt, hope no one else was with you at that time.

I know it's already been said, but my apologies for the SRT, and defintely glad to have a knowledgeable member to the Maxima board! Can't wait to see what you do to it.

Wow, that's a very horrific accident! But I must say, them Neon do a good job protecting the occupants. My brother an an 02 Neon SE, got clipped by a guy not paying attention when changing lanes, put his car in a spin, then it caught a curb and flipped, roof landed on a parked car, bounced the car back up and landed it on it's wheels. After all that my brother got out, only thing he had was a sore neck from getting whipped around, but other than that, he didn't have a scratch on him. Either way, enjoy the new Maxima!

Thanks for the support guys.... Here is how it all went down......

Well it’s been about two weeks since my accident and I’m still totally bummed out.

For those who don’t already know, on 08/11/04 as I made my way home from work on I75 I flipped my SRT-4 four times and slid down the grassy shoulder of I75 into the trees. I always considered myself a very safe and aware motorist until last week when I was partially sideswiped of the road by a green mini van.

I was driving down I75 at about 75-80 flowing with traffic on the left lane of this 2 lane interstate when I came up on some slower moving traffic. I found myself approaching a box truck of some sort in the left lane, as I put my right turn signal on and merged into the right lane while passing the truck; the mini van in front of the truck which was also moving slower abruptly switched into my lane forcing me to unexpectedly swerve onto the right shoulder at about 80mph. It had rained earlier in the day so the grassy embankment to the right of the shoulder was very soft and still somewhat wet. My right tire got about one foot into the soft grass/dirt as I attempted to correct causing my SRT to flip forward and end over end about four times before sliding down the grassy embankment on my roof into the trees. It all happened so quickly I didn’t even have time to brake, just swerve to the right and attempt to correct. I remember my arm hanging out the window as the car flipped and managed to yank it back into the car.

After the car came to a stop on its roof, I unbuckled my seat belt and fell out of the seat onto the roof. When I got out of the vehicle is when I came to realize the amount of destruction the accident caused. The outer portion of the right front wheel that dug into the dirt/grass has separated form the inner which was still attached to the hub and strut that had ripped away for the strut tower. The right suspension was also destroyed along with roof that caved in and glass that shattered the CV axle that separated away from the transmission as well and my personal belongings littered the grassy shoulder of the interstate.

To add fuel to the fire, out of the 3-4 cars that witnessed the accident and stopped to help me, not one managed to take the tag of the green mini van that fled the seen of the accident, or at least never bothered to stop. This was a horrific experience to go thru and I’m glad my wife and son were not riding in the car with me at the time. The officer could not believe that I walked away from the accident with only bruises and scratches. He told me it looks like my car was very safe and that it wasn’t my time to go. Needless to say I’m happy to be alive limping around with nothing more then scratches and sore muscles.

I went a few days latter I went to see the car and snap some pic’s that I will post once I scan them. The engine which was still running when I got out of the car is now covered in oil and battery acid, so most of my mods were inaccessible.

The reason I chose to post my story is because as I mentioned before, I thought I was a very cautious and alert driver before this happed. I never had an accident and managed to avoid many prior to this one which took place so quickly that it was unavoidable. Please be careful out there, because sometimes situations out of our control can have a life changing affect on us. Here is a perfect example; I still have no power after being ravaged by hurricane Charlie only two days after the accident. Many people lost everything as a result of an unexpected, unavoidable situation.

On a lighter note my insurance is paying $20,346.00 on my 04 SRT-4 with 5800 miles on it and the GAP insurance is picking up the 2k difference on the balance owed. I think the car held it value pretty well considering I paid $21,700.00 for it and most cars will deprecate 4k right when you drive off the lot…

Please buckle up and be safe out there……

That sounds pretty bad, and yeah that could happen to anybody. My parents rolled their 95 maxima but in 97 I think it was. I believe that my dad fell asleep at the wheel. They rolled it several times and got away almost scott free, with a stitch or two on my dad's forehead, and a written off maxima.
