air/fuel gauge problem

i just bought an air/fuel gauge and wired it up to the middle wire from the o2 in the front, it works just fine but now i am getting a very low idle and a check engine light, i was just wondering if someone else knew another place to wire it or the right place to wire it

the instruction manual said not to wire it to the o2 sensor so if anyone knows help me out
thanks

okay, so the instructions say NOT to wire it to the O2 sensor, and you did anyway?

What part of the 02 did you wire it to? To the harness from the ecu? or did you actually wire it to the harness from the 02?

I wired it to the harness that goes from the ecu -> the 02 sensor harness inside the engine bay. Basically the same thing as wiring it to the ecu. You must have tapped into the wrong wire or the wrong harness.

if you have autometer just give them a call or email they will tell you how to hook it to and to the correct wire

if i don't make a mistake, it gets wired to the purple wire that comes out of the front o2 sensor. I'll take some pick tommarow, i'll show you where it goes.::SE::

Needs to be wired to the ECU. You can source it from an o2 sensor, but It's easier and more accurate to use the ECU as your source. Not that those crap guages are accurate at all, merely light shows. Not flaming you, I've had them before. Just depends on what you are looking to get from it.

It the same thing, the white wire goes to the ECU. How much Accurate could it be. The ECU reads the O2 sensor....

When sourced from o2 sensors you won't see a transition from closed-loop to open-loop operation from the ECU. You will only get readings as if you are constantly in open-loop mode.
