Brake insatll Problem!

Well i tried installing my blehmco big brake kit w/ 300zx calipers and the f!@#in calipers rubb on the wheel spokes. Now the question is should i upgrade to a 20 mm spacer to give me clearance or just get the 300zx rotor and have it milled down. The thing that troubles me is i dont know if running a 19 inch wheel with a heavier spacer and heavier rotor is going to be good for the wheel bearings, not to mention power loss. Is there anyone running the 300zx rotor who could give a review of the fittment. Sometimes i wonder why i even bother with this ***** F^^^in car.

Did you do the measurements on Matt's website before purchasing the BBK? How badly is the caliper hitting? What is the offset of your wheels? I ultimately decided to go with nismo studs and custom spacers to cure my BBK fitment ills. They are made out of aluminum, and my wheels aren't too heavy for 18's so I went for it.

i've said this in your other thread:

milling down the rotors down not change how the caliper sits. The caliper is fixed via the blehmco bracket to the steering knuckle area of the car.

are you the dude who emailed me?

my spokes hit the 300zx calipers too (not using the blahco kit) and a 5mm spacer gave me JUST enough clearence...i gaurentee you 20mm is WAY too much. h&r makes 5 and 15 mm spacer adapator kits that come with the spacer and 5 studs extended the length of the ordered spacer...unfortunatly, they are on backorder, and i am currently waiting.

you don't have to run the adapater w/ longer studs, but it's recommended. right now i only have a little under 6 turns on my lugnuts before i can't tighten them anymore...too slim for my tastes, but after a week of driving i havn't had any problems.

email me if you want the h&r adapters/studs, i can get them at a pretty good price.

he's already running on 15mm spacers, thats why he's saying 20mm for the extra 5mm spacing

the spacer's all can be different just because of the wheel shape some sit in, some point out you just need to measure it and see what size spacers you will need

i guess if i went with a bigger spacer it wouldn't put that much extra strain on the wheel bearing would it?

i'd be more worried about the wheel studs than the bearings.

with a 20mm spacer, it's going to have new struds anyway.

what's the width and offset of those wheels?

I have the 300zx calipers and also had to run spacers. I decided to upgrade to the Nismo studs as well, and I believe that you should first try the new spacers before having the calipers grinded/sanded down.

I'm getting Matt's BBK with 300zx calipers. Today I measured and yeah I'm gonna need a .5" spacer. I wish they had 8mm. Owell I'll just get the 16mm I guess whenever I have all my parts.

there are funky sizes such as 8mm, but they aren't hubcentric. Unfortunately h&r is the only one that makes hubcentric ones for nissan and they only come in 5mm, 15mm, and 20mm. Good luck on the wait for the 5mm, i ordered them more than a month back and they are still on back order

I'll more than likely get 2 sets of the 15mm spacers. Where did you order your spacers from?

Search for Mustang spacers. They will fit our cars and you can just use Nismo studs with them.

Are they cheaper or something?

Yeah I emailed him earlier today. Hopefully he still has a set. If not, I guess I won't mind spending the money for H&R 20mm back and 15mm up front.

I'm gonna have to do it anyway...
