The most commonly used rustproofing product is paint.

What are you rustproofing?

I just let it rust. Pretty pointless to try and keep up with New England winters for the underbody. My underbody coating is holding up very well anyway.

Mizeree, they skipped that section of the car building manual when they did the 4th and 5th gen. they have almost zero undercoating compared to the 3rd gen.

don't bother with oil or grease under the car. that just makes a mess. use a proper undercoating material, but only after cleaning the bottom of the car very well. jack it up and use some engine cleaner or super clean and a large plastic brush on it... then rinse and dry it completely.. then apply the undercoater.

if you buy the 3M stuff, buy about 4 or 5 cans of it and go to town. don't lay it on too thick at first, but build up some thickness over several coats. you'll see a dramatic drop in road noise, and you get the protection from the elements as well.

Rubberized undercoating: is almost the worst thing to do!

the best rustprofing thing on the market is : RUSTCHECK! (2-3 place do it in montreal)

oil is better than grease too! cause oil can go where grease can't: rust go where grease cannot!
