Slotted/Cross Drilled ROTOR owners **STEP IN**

got my brembo xdrilled and slotted rotors +raybestos quitestops installed about 800 miles ago (brand new)

at first the setup was a dream, no vibration and no noise but since then it has gotten louder and louder and louder.

the setup makes ALOT of noise, the faster my speed when i brake, the more noise its gonna give. the car does NOT vibrate when i brake but it makes this grinding kinda noise when i step on the brakes and i FEEL it in the brake pedal as well. at lower speeds, it also makes this wierd sound that im not able to describe. i've researched and asked around and most people say its NORMAL due to the slotts and drills on the rotors but i dont buy that cuz this setup is TOOOO noisy.

so my question is, how many of u with silimiar combo notice wierd/loud noises?
and if u guys dont, what do u think is wrong with my setup?

I get some noise when braking hard from high speed. Normally I don't get anything, though. Smooth as buttah.

Tey to see which side makes noise and check the pads...you might have worn them already with those rotors..

I have slotted up front paired up with Hawk HPS pads. At first they were very quiet, but over time they started making a little noise. They are not very noisy, but do make a little squeal here and there, nothing annoying though. Did you do any kind of braking in procedure when you first put them on?

no squeals here for me and i have a bbk. The brakes do make rotational noises while slowly down aggressively, but usually just quiet. It gets loud when the sound resonates against a wall on the freeway or tunnel... due to the x-drilled holes in the rotors

I had x-drilled brembos on the F&R, but now just on the front, since one of the rears CRACKED ALL OF THE WAY ACROSS.

They were marginally louder than stock, but stopped no better.

Ive been running stillen cross drilled with stillen pads front and back for I think close to 3 years now and they have been hissing, squealing making all types of noise since day one. I had the rotors refinished once after about a year and had the pads sanded down and it didnt make any difference at all, still make noise. From what I understand the hissing/grinding noise is normal when using xdrilled or slotted rotors and the squealing is normal for performance pads. Ive just live with it, because they still brake really well and there is no vibration.

You may want to inspect the brake pads to see what type of condition they are in.

I also have Irotors with OEM pads. I dont have no grinding noise. But when braking from a high speed I can hear the pads going over the slots,...tik tik tik tik.
Its not real loud though and not extremely noticiable.

I've got drilled rotors from the group deal in the forums. I've never really had problems with the rotors, just when I really really brake hard. Other than that I never really had a problem.

Aftermarket pads tend to squeal more. I have brembo rotors and oem pads, no problems at all. If your rotors were warped you would feel a vibration in the brake pedal and in the steering wheel when braking. You can't tell if your rotors are warped by looking at them. I'm sure the rotors are fine though, I'd spend a little extra and get the oem pads.

I get a ticking noise as well. At first I thought that my mechanic did a hack job. I feel better after reading these threrads. The noise is very evident when I drive next to a wall or break in a tunnel. No grinding noise what soever. I am happy with the cross drilled Brembo that I have.

you guys with irotors, i have 2 questions real quick..

1) it says it only goes to 01...but it does fit the 02s?

2) what is the zinc plating they are talkin about?

Get the zinc plating, it will keep them from rusting and leave them shiny like new.

Some of you need to keep in mind that you get what you pay for. None of the Brembo rotors you guys have were cut by Brembo (unless you have their BBK). Each company that sells slotted Brembo rotors buys Brembo blanks and cuts them. My slotted "Brembo" rotors warped. My cross-drilled Stillen rotors cracked. I'm now running PowerSlot front rotors and have never been happier. No noise, no vibration, great stopping. I'm using Nissan pads since they are always quiet and dust very little compared to other pads I've used. I did get slotted "Brembo" rotors for the rear to match the PowerSlot front because not much goes on back there and if they do warp, not the end of the world. They were a lot cheaper too.

i have some noise but mostly vibration, i feel the vibration in the pedal, more at higher speed, the pedal feels much softer than my old 4th gen. not sure what to do, the pads and the rotors have about 19k on them, long trips over a 6 month period, have about 50% of pads left. any ideas?

Been running Brembo slotted/xdrilled with Satisfied aggressive carbon/ceramic pads for two years+ and have had no problems at all. They stop very quick wit no noise at all. A little dusty but that is all.

Is it driving style that is the issue? I do not really have many hard stops. I tend to drive a lot of highway and not much city traffic. I do not have many situations where I have to panic stop.

get some new brembo blanks (not drilled or slotted) and a good ceramic pad.

your pads will last longer and no more vibrations.
