damn, got hit again

so yeah, yesterday I was trying to find parking in the university garage and some dude just backed out his parking spot and hit while I was stuck behind someone else that was camping for a parking spot.

Just last saturday, I did my seasonal detail.... wash, clay, polish with AIO and 1 coat of klasse sealant glaze. I took pics... here are the before / after in the span of 2 days:

before

The bodyshop I usually take my car to quoted $1562. They're going to have pull that dent out, use some body filler, and blend the paint in. Since our maximas don't have a break in the quarter panel, they will have to clearcoat that quarter panel, the roof, and all the way on the other side. It sounded pretty ridiculous to me, but they said it was a paint warranty issue... whatever, at least the majority of my swirl marks will be gone

Actually, the dude who hit me was a fellow student so I tried to work it out with him but we both decided that insurance was the way to go... no way can he expect the work to be done under $500 like he originally thought.

As long as I get my car to look the way it was before, i'll live with the inconvenience.

This is the 4th time I've been hit in the past year and a half =/

That sucks, and it was looking really good prior. As long as he's willing to work with you, sounds like it will all turn out ok.
Good luck and at least he HAS insurance.

lol i always like to find excuses to post pics of my car after a detail!

but in all seriousness, that dent does suck. I gotta call up Farmer's insurance today and make the claim. How do these guys handle adjusters and bodyshops? I mean like, I know state farm sends out an adjuster, cuts you a check, then pays the difference if it costs more after turning your car into the bodyshop. Do do they do the same thing?

Make sure you check the car very carefully when you get it back. especially the connecting points of the new/old paint. I had a repair done on my old car on the corner panel and it was repainted. The clear coat is starting to chip off. Make sure you look for imperfections in the clear coat by the window seals. Thats where the chip started

dang that sucks. i have bad luck too. when i had my 3rd gen maxima it got hit 3 times, and the third time totalled it, which was fine with me because I was able to get my 97 max with the 'pain and suffering' settlment.

ill have to watch out when im parking up at san jose state next year! (i cant wait to go there and leave this ****ty town)

yeah, the body shop actaully brought that point up and said that's why they have to re-clearcoat that panel as well as the roof and all the way to the other side because it's all 1 peice and no break points.
