Question about engine codes.

Question about engine codes.

Im sure that this has been asked before. But what is the difference between all the engine codes. I know that in a VQ30DE or a RB26DETT that the 30 (or the 26) stands for 3.0 liter engine (or 2.6 liter engine) and that the D is Dual overhead cams (pretty sure) and that the T is turbo (or twin turbo) but what is the E or the VQ or the RB, Im curious about this for all nissan engine codes (i.e-KA, SR, blah blah.) Thanks for tolerating a newbies question.

means nothing really, I know the RB stands for race bred.

E has to do with the type of injection.

Not sure where you pulled the statement about the E from...and the RB standing for "race bred" or "breed" is all folklore...Nissan has never said that's what it stands for.
