Uh, well there is a cosmetic difference. In case you haven't noticed, the 97-99 max's have a crossbar in the grill, whereas 95-96 are more plain. Also, the design of the tailights is different (95-96 have brakelights below turning lenses, and 97-99 are vice versa). It's all about opinion. I have a 99, so I never had to do this, but I'm guessing it's a heck of a lot cheaper and easier to change the parts of your car rather than looking for a whole new car.

its all opinion. I prefer the 95-96 look, especially with the stillen body kit and drop. Just cleaner imho. you're right ant, less aggressive but I like it more. And 95-96 red-clears look better than 97-99's , again just my opinion!

(ant, what kind of wheels are those? They look hot! )

I personally prefer the opening on the 97 bumper over the 96.
Thats why I swapped. I hated seeing the little oval like mouth on the 96. It just looked to plain.
I do hoever like the grill from the 96 better though. I like the no bar look.
To me, the bar on the 97-99 grill reminds me of an Impala
Some people swap rear trunks to get the benifet of the red/clears.

It's not worth it. I'm thinking of doing something with the grill, maybe buy just a '97 grill for the bar and put a mesh grill but keep my '95 bumber. Is that possible? Both grills look the same size basically.

I really like the 1995-1996 Rear End alot more though. Not sure about the front end... If I only had to get bumper and grill I woud've done it, but getting fogs just isn't worth it.

I agree, I like my stock '96 look compared to my family's '97 GLE...maybe I'm just biased though.

So people can confuse my car for being 5 years old instead of 8

I recently did the rear end conversion with no emblems and I'm amazed at how many compliments I've gotten from my friends. I actually like something about the exterior of my Max now.
