i finally did it
im trading my max in Sat. for a 2001 BMW 330ci. it has 42000 miles on it and i got it for 24,300. I plan to still hang out here and see what new things come out for the maxima. hope you guys like my choice .

Nice car.
Hang out if you want, but please don't give a crap what anyone thinks. You're about to get besieged by haters:
-$24k, you could have bought a new max for that!
-42k, that's just when they start to break (see next)
-I'd never get one of those, they're so expensive to fix (see previous)
-I'd rather have my x-gen max than a BMW any day
-

Nice car, enjoy the ride. Any pics?

lol, dam that breakdown would make me reconsider. But a 2k2 max would be really nice to have for under 20k, still be faster and easier/cheaper to maintain.
i love BMW's though, good luck with it.

Damn, I say that's a good step up. You can't match a maxima's finish to the fit and finish of a BMW. I saw a brand new 330ci this morning and was thinking how nice it woul dbe to be rolling the 330 than my max. Good luck and keep it clean!!

Sort of a funny statement. The standard 330i, is about as quick as the older E36 M3

I drive the Max, other half drives a 2001 330I. It's an awsome car, we racked up just over 80K on it, no problems at all. Only basic maintenance like oil changes, cooling system service and a new K&N filter. Tune up's are 100K. They ride awsome, handle great and you can't beat that BMW feel of the road.
Good luck with your new car!

I wonder how many Maxima owners would stand in line to trade in their cars for a E46 after a hands on ride & drive comparo.
Don't knock it 'till you tried it.
Great choice Rob.![ThumbsUp](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
I expect you to bring it by the shop one day.

Yea seriously.. BMW is a far superior ride... not only is it pimp, its just much more refined. Sit in one and take it for a ride around the block, you'll be impressed. Its not about speed or flashyness... just subtlety and a great ride.
Enjoy it.
Enjoy it.

Why. They aren't that much faster if at all and it will definately have more miles on it.

Hey,
My friend has a 2004 325ci...very nice ride, but since it's really new, I can't comment on the reliability.
I will say that BMW's are thought to be hit or miss with the reliability. You might get a lemon that needs fixing every month, or you might get a car that runs beautifully for 100k miles.
Either way, good luck with the Bimmer!

I would . .. to be honest, i'd even trade it for a slow 325i. You can't beat the way those cars feel!

You might get one for a similar price. But it will have more miles, be out of warranty and probably need more maintainance. The 330 can be made to handle better and even brake better if that is a concern.

yeah but you are going to have to spend money to do that. a m3 already has all of those things. but for me miles is not a concern and i dont care about warranty at all and all the maintance i would do my slef. jsut need the proper tools. that is what i think.

One is brand new, warranty, 0 miles, clean, known history.
The other is 5 years old, no warranty, 70,000 miles, someone else's baby puke in the seats, a car you know was beat on...
And there's a question about which to buy?

Is the new 330Ci the same as the older M3? I never knew that.
I thought that it was a 3.2 liter and didn't it have a little more horsepower? Ok I found the specs it was 240hp and 236tq. So it's just a little tougher engine. 15 more hp and 22 more tq. The best thing is that it comes with a LSD.
Either way nice pick.
