I was reading my old subscription to Super Street today, which i got when i had my honda. i happened to notice that JUN Auto Mechanic has an aftermarket crankshaft for the VG30DE that strokes it to 3.3L. i was wondering, does anyone know if they have one for the VQ30DE as well? i can not find a website for JUN, so i couldnt look there. also, i seem to remember reading that the crank from the QX4/pathfinder engine (3.4L in the old ones? is this correct?) is a direct replacement for the VQ30DE crank, and will stroke it to 3.4L. ( i will search for this article to make sure i am remembering this correctly.) any thoughts?

What kind of gains would you make with the stroker crank? Also, what other upgrades would you have to do to the engine? I am assuming a rebuild would be a good idea since the motor would have to be pulled and disassembled to swap out the cranks...

Flow is a function of the head design, not the cranklength.

Also for general information, you cannot just put a longer crank with that much longer throw and just swap it in. You will end up w/ a super high compression ratio and/or run into valve-piston clearance problems.

The modern combustion type engine is a system. You cannot change one thing internally w/o considering everything else.

That's why to stroke the 3L VQ up to 3.5L for the current Pathfinder/QX4 applcations, Nissan had to add shorter connecting rods. This makes up for the longer throw.
